Tesla Has Removed 2022 Production Date References From Its Cybertruck Webpage

Tesla has taken the step of removing all mention of 2022 production from its Cybertruck website. While the site previously said that buyers “will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022,” that’s now gone.

Now, it just says: “You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears,” which is much less exciting.

Spotted by Edmunds, and as reported by The Verge, it appears that the references to 2022 first disappeared towards the end of last year and it still isn’t clear exactly what the roadmap looks like for the odd-looking truck. Tesla will surely want to get it onto roads as soon as possible, but can it?

The Verge suggests that the company doesn’t see Cybertruck as a priority. The company struggles to get all of its cars produced quickly enough and might instead be focusing on those.

Ramping up production on the Cybertruck might also be a relatively low priority for Tesla considering its other vehicles have had fantastic years. The Model 3 became the first EV to top monthly sales charts in Europe, for example, while the company delivered close to 1 million cars in 2021 — an impressive 87 percent increase on shipments in 2020.

None of that will be comforting to those waiting for a Cybertruck, though. With companies like Rivian and Ford already setting the world alight with their own electric trucks, Tesla will surely want to ensure that it joins the fight sooner rather than later. It was the company that make electric cars cool — if it waits too long it’ll miss the electric truck market completely.
