FaceTime serves as a great way for owners of iOS device users to communicate in a face-to-face manner, but while it's ideal for video chatting with family and friends, there's no platform for meeting new people. Thanks to a new little website called FaceTime Plus, though, this is now possible, and in essence, it's very much FaceTime meets Chatroulette.
If you happen to be a fan of Beyoncé then the chances are you would try and get tickets to one of her concerts if she was swinging by your way. The ex-Destiny's Child singer has undoubtedly gone on to be one of the most successful female solo recording artists of all time. Plus, her marriage to hip-hop legend Jay-Z didn't really do her worldwide appeal any damage. If you do manage to get to one of her concerts around the world then be prepared for her to not only belt out renditions of her pop infused tunes, but to also get up in your face and take your precious iPhone from you.
It's fair to say that, while the rear-facing cameras of mobile devices seem to be improving vastly with each year that goes by, the front-facing snappers are used sparingly due to their vast inferiority. In fact, video calling aside, you'd have to be pretty mad to take any snaps or record any clips using your smartphone or tablet's front shooter, but a brand-new sensor from Omnivision could see this trend well and truly bucked.
How To Enable Hidden iOS Debug Settings For FaceTime, iMessage And Bluetooth [No Jailbreak Required]
Smartphones that are powered by various different operating systems are fast becoming a necessity in our everyday lives. Once upon a time, when mobile telephones were first becoming accessible to the masses, they were as a big as a house brick and had functionality that was limited to making telephone calls and storing contacts. As with most things, as time progressed, so did the underlying technology of mobile devices allowing manufacturers to make them smaller, pack in more features and gradually become the mobile powerhouses that we all seem to carry around with us today.
The "another day, another tweak" cliché has never been more relevant than in the current state of play. Last weekend saw the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S join every other iDevice in the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak wonderland, and developers have been pushing those tweaks through the Cydia store at an incredible rate ever since.
When FaceTime was introduced back in 2010, it was rightfully considered to be, at least back then, an “empty” feature. There were two reasons for this, it only worked over WiFi and only between two iPhone 4’s. Since then, FaceTime has been brought to other Apple products and it now works on the iPad 2, iPod touch 4G as well as OS X and, because of this, it has actually become a pretty useful service for folks who stick to Apple for their computing needs. Its first limitation - that of being WiFi-only - was removed thanks to a jailbreak tweak called FaceBreak which enabled FaceTime over 3G. This tweak has now been updated to support jailbroken iOS devices on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1. Details after the jump!
Although it's rather disappointing that quite a few prospective new features of iOS 5 didn't actually make the final cut, it's always nice to find some of them tucked away - hidden in a secret bolt-hole for later ejection.
