Sony PS5 Confirmed To Be A Huge Console In Documented Pictures

We finally found out earlier this week just how much the PS5 will cost and when it’ll go on sale, but actually seeing the thing in real images or video just isn’t really happening.

Sony is showing what appears to be renders in its own videos, and we definitely aren’t seeing proper photos. Until now, thanks to a PS5 that went through Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) (PDF).

The image show the PS5 laid horizontally and we even get to see the device’s cables and the stand that will hold the console in both orientations.

Sony confirmed the dimensions earlier in the week and we know this thing is big. Seeing it in photos though – they really do drive home how large the console will be.

Fitting it under your TV isn’t going to be an easy feat by any stretch.

The Verge noted the sheer size of the PS5, saying that it’s the largest console in modern history.

According to Sony, the PS5 is approximately 390mm (15.4 inches) tall, 260mm (10.24 inches) deep and 104mm (4.09 inches) wide, making it the single biggest game console you’ve probably ever heard of. (I think that makes it a 10.5-liter case, in PC terms.) The model without the disc drive? Same story, just 12 millimeters slimmer.

The size of the PS5 isn’t going to put anyone off buying it. But it’s increasingly clear that fitting it somewhere in our entertainment centers is going to be no fun at all.
