Report: Redesigned Apple TV With Thinner Profile And Plexiglass Top Could Be Coming Soon

A new report claims that Apple is working on a new Apple TV box that is flatter and thinner than the current model, all with a new “plexiglass” lid. That report comes from iDropNews, an outlet with no established record of being accurate with these kinds of leaks.

With that very much in mind, here’s what they have to say.

Citing unnamed sources, the report says that the new look will do away with the current one, giving us something that’s less “outdated.” Interestingly, the look that’s mentioned in the article sounds very much like the previous Apple TV from way back in the day, not to mention the old Mac mini!

Notably, while the report says it isn’t clear whether multiple colors will be offered, it does suggest that a look similar to the new iMacs is in the offing.

I do not know if they will add fun colors to it like they have done the iPad Air and AirPods Max, but it will have the same dual-tone design as the new Mac mini and look similar to its original counterpart – just smaller and have that futuristic design language. So who’s to say they won’t add the new color scheme to the new Apple TV.

We’re less than convinced about this one and it seems unlikely that Apple will see the need to revise a look that it’s stuck with for so long and has become so adept at disappearing into TV cabinets and shelves. We’ll have to wait and see!
