Apple Had To Acquire Trademark For “Lightning” From Harley Davidson

Ben Reid·November 26, 2012
As we know, patents are a significant part of the consumer electronics game - particularly in the mobile industry, and when it comes to intellectual property, few are more diligent in securing it over at the USPTO than Cupertino-based Apple. But while we're used to seeing the company file lawsuits against the likes of Apple and Google, it was Apple - the creator tor of all things innovative - that had to acquire a trademark from another company to bring the likes of the iPhone 5 and iPad mini to market.

Microsoft Store Saw 47% Less Traffic On Black Friday Compared To Apple Store

Paul Morris·November 26, 2012
The Black Friday shopping extravaganza has been and gone, and while a number of high profile retailers were offering significant price savings across a wide range of products it was ultimately the consumer electronics industry that consumers were looking to for those Thanksgiving bargains. Microsoft and Apple are two companies that find themselves sitting at the top of that particular food chain, and while we have already seen reports showing that certain Apple Stores saw a lot more customers than their Microsoft counterparts in the same area, we are now seeing some statistics to back up that claim.

Galaxy Note II Sales Hit The 5 Million Units Sold Mark

Paul Morris·November 26, 2012
Those who regularly keep abreast of what is going on in the smartphone industry will be more than aware that Samsung and Apple are constantly battling it out for sales supremacy, with Samsung managing to come out on top thanks to their array of extremely popular Android powered devices. Samsung have relied on their Galaxy S II and S III smartphones to bring in the big sales numbers, but it was only the start of this month that they announced the Galaxy Note II had been received extremely well with three million units sold. Less than four weeks later, the statistics are back with Samsung announcing that an additional two million second-generation Notes have flown off the shelves in November.

Aatif·November 26, 2012
If you’re into shopping at all, and online version of it in particular, Black Friday and Cyber Monday would be nothing unfamiliar or new to you. Every year, retailers, brand manufacturers, stores and supermarket chains, wireless carriers, and almost everyone else, goes on a sale spree for the shopping frenzy that both these days are. Cyber Monday, in particular, caters to the digital crowd, and aside from the sales on goods that it brings, the app crowd can also rejoice, for this year’s no exception – both the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store – the conveyors of world’s biggest share of smartphone apps – are seeing massive sales on apps that have gone on pricing diets to mark the celebration weekend. We brought you a compilation of all the greatest iOS apps that went free for Black Friday a couple of days back, and now it’s time for its Android counterpart, the Google Play Store.

Battery Stats Plus: Advanced Power Monitor For Android That Auto-Detects Potential Battery Draining Apps

Aatif·November 26, 2012
When I switched over from iOS to Android as my daily driver, the first thing that I ensued was the quest for battery optimization. It’s no hidden truth that iOS beats Google’s cute little droid hands down in this arena, and if someone claims otherwise, they might want to try reaching out to the likes of Guinness World Records or something, for that matter. Nevertheless, despite the platform’s own shortcomings, there are always steps that one can take to maximize the potential that the Li-ion cells in the back of your handset have to deliver.

Oliver Haslam·November 26, 2012

This App For iPhone Helps You Easily Maintain Control Of Your Finances

Ben Reid·November 25, 2012
Black Friday's name stems from the opportunity businesses have to turn a profit, or remain in the black, by making huge sales to customers enticed by the savings on offer. That's all very well for the companies, but on a personal level, it's important we too keep our heads above water, and as we collectively drag ourselves from the financial meltdown of a few years ago, we should take all the help we can get in maintaining financial stability. To mark Black Friday Weekend, we've had a little hunt through some of the best money apps available for iOS, and for all-round performance and ease-of-use, Budget with Back in Black has emerged as one of our favorites.

‘Last Time’ For iOS Lets You Keep Track Of All Your Important Life Events

Ben Reid·November 25, 2012
We're becoming increasingly reliant on our mobile devices to run many of our daily errands; so much so, in fact, that it can often be difficult to keep track of everything we've done. There are plenty of event-tracking apps available right now over at the App Store, but none do them quite like Last Time, a handy utility app for the iPhone.

Root Samsung Galaxy Camera On Android Jelly Bean Using CF-Root And Odin [How-To Tutorial]

Aatif·November 25, 2012
Mobile phones with great cameras have been around for a good many years now, and while the units mounted atop the likes of Apple’s iPhone 5 and 4S, Samsung Galaxy S III or Sony Xperia lineup have been nothing short of impressive, Nokia PureView 808’s 41-megapixel shooter had, indeed, taken smartphone photography to a whole new level. Add to the mix the powerful noise reduction algorithms that these cameras come with, the variety of photo applications they have their disposal, and the connectivity for wireless and cloud sharing that they offer, makes one absolutely believe that this is the future of general photography, no matter what point-and-shoot cameras might have you believe.

Root, Unlock Bootloader And More On HTC One X+ With All-In-One Toolkit

Ben Reid·November 25, 2012
HTC has had a pretty difficult year all told, but with the Windows Phone 8 duo in the 8X and 8S now making their way to market, and a recent licensing agreement reached with Apple, things are certainly looking up for the Taiwanese company. The HTC One X+ on Android offers an even beefier list of specs than the original One X released earlier this year, which wasn't exactly underpowered in itself, and if you want to have even more fun with your One X+, you'll be pleased to learn that the all-in-one toolkit has just been released for the device.
