With the iPad and iPhone being so popular amongst a worldwide audience, many have questioned Apple's long term interest in the Mac, as well as OS X. With the Mac Pro long overdue an update and Apple seemingly more interested in its iOS devices than its OS X ones. According to 9to5Mac though, Apple will update its computer operating system this year, and it will be an update that will please Apple's power users.
If you found the Samsung Unpacked launch event of the Galaxy S4 to be somewhat cheesy, what you witnessed was actually theatrical mastery compared with what the poor folks of India have been burdened with from the Korean company. It's one of the reasons that Google's Android is often preferred over Apple's iOS, but Google Now is no longer an Android-only affair, with the personal assistant now available for the competition's iPhone and iPad devices.
Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Tab 3, a 7-inch successor to the Galaxy Tab 2, and although the new numbering suggests a reasonable level of upgrades, the device looks almost identical to its predecessor and is scarcely much more advanced when you peek at the specs. The slate, which runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, is perhaps more of a refresh than anything else, although in yet another move by the Korean company to blur the line between smartphone and tablet, a 3G model will emerge next month with calling capabilities.
Windows Phone is still not quite gaining the traction it needs to worry the likes of Apple and Google, but few can argue that Microsoft hasn't made some important improvements to the platform since its introduction. Things like copy and paste are now part of Windows Phone, when they were once just a pipe dream. With Microsoft already working to bring a new version of Windows to the desktop, the speculation is now all about where the Redmond firm will take Windows Phone when it receives its next update.
