Transform Your Android Smartphone Into A Convenient Driving Game Controller With ‘Virtual Wheel’

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
Many of you, I imagine, partake in a little casual PC gaming, and as any once-a-week gamer will know all-too well, using the keyboard as a controller can be a rather cumbersome process. The incorporation of a mouse or touchpad can make things worse still, but since you only play on the odd occasion, going out and purchasing a physical control pad is pretty much out of the question. If you like your driving games, are frustrated with your current control setup yet do not see a physical controller as a worthwhile investment, a nifty little app for Android will help turn your device into a makeshift controller for your virtual racing needs.

How To Install OEM-Specific Apps On Any Windows Phone 8 Device

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
Although the vast majority of Windows Phone 8 apps found over at the WP Store are available to any and every consumer in ownership of a Windows Phone 8 device, the same cannot be said for those thrown out by OEMs. With the exception of Nokia Maps and one or two others, those without the OEM-branded device have had to survive without the apps that particular manufacturer has thrown out for its handsets. Thankfully, there's a workaround at hand, and it arrives courtesy of none other than XDA-Developers in the form of Nokia Portal.

Samsung Set To Bring Back The Flip Phone With Android Powered Galaxy Folder

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
In the modern Digital Age in which we live, the smartphone seems to follow a very uniform design pattern. The large, touchscreen display is a form factor very few stray from, and besides the odd physical keyboard from BlackBerry, very few vendors can be seen breaking the mold. However, Samsung could be about to roll the years back once again with its second attempt at revitalizing the old folder phone design with a follow up to last year's release of the flippy SCH-W2013.

WhatsApp For iPhone Updated: Features iCloud Backup Support, Send Multiple Photos And More

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
When it comes to cross-platform instant messaging, there are few able to compete with WhatsApp Messenger. Covering all of the major mobile operating systems, the only thing really missing from the repertoire is a Web app, but until that implementation arrives if ever, versions for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and others will do just nicely. Today, the iOS app has been given a reasonable update featuring iCloud chat history backup as well as support for sending multiple photos in a thread. Details after the jump.

Official Outlook App For iPhone And iPad Is Here, Download Now

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
Microsoft has just released an official Outlook app to the App Store for those rocking an iPhone or iPad. The interface is very much built in the image of Windows 8, but if you can see past this lack of uniformity with the look and feel of iOS, the app does offer one or two features not currently available in the Web app. All of the important details, as well as that download link, can be found right after the break.

Microsoft: Xbox One Will Let Users Play Games Before Download Completes

Ben Reid·July 17, 2013
Microsoft has stepped out and confirmed that the Xbox One games console will indeed allow gamers to begin playing games before the entire download has completed. An unnamed Microsoft rep has spoken with Polygon to convey the news to the on-looking gaming world, and although we'd long since suspected as much, it's nice to have the confirmation there enabling us to draw a line under any uncertainty.

Transport Tycoon For iOS And Android Announced [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·July 16, 2013
We all love a remake of an old classic title, and thanks to the accessibility and popularity of the likes of the App Store and Google Play Store, developers have a suitable medium for reworking and distributing those games that really push our nostalgic buttons. We've seen the remakes of GTA III and Vice City; we've got our SEGA fix with the likes of Sonic CD, and now another old favorite - Transport Tycoon - is to make a sensational comeback on Apple's iOS App Store and Google’s Play Store in the near future. Details can be found after the leap!

Here’s Why Ashton Kutcher Chose To Play Steve Jobs In Upcoming Flick

Ben Reid·July 16, 2013
The choice of Ashton Kutcher to play the role of Steve Jobs in the upcoming indie movie concerning the life of the late, great Apple co-founder was one which, at first, did raise one or two eyebrows. But having seen the teaser trailer and stills of Kutcher on the set as the man himself, the former Punk'd presenter actually makes for a convincing representation of the former Cupertino CEO, and now, Kutcher has spoken for the first time on why he chose the role.

Apple’s TV Service Will Allow Users To Skip Through Ad Breaks, According To Report

Oliver Haslam·July 16, 2013
Apple's been at the center of one particular rumor for years now, and that's the rumor that claims an Apple television will eventually come into being. Over the years that rumor has morphed slightly, and now it's generally accepted that the Cupertino firm is indeed trying to come up with some sort of TV service. Whether that will include a television, or whether it will be piped through an Apple TV box like we have today, remains to be seen.

Toddler Manages To Buy A Car Using Her Dad’s iPhone, Dad Didn’t Even Mind!

Oliver Haslam·July 16, 2013
We've heard so many horror stories of children managing to spend small fortunes on in-app purchases when left to their own devices with an iPhone or an iPad, and we'd hoped that such things would come to an end as Apple adds more and more security with an aim of blocking such mishaps. Unfortunately, they missed one unfortunate loophole.
