New In iOS 16: Resize HomeKit Tiles In Apple Home App

A new feature in iOS 16 is ability to resize HomeKit accessories tiles in Apple Home app. Here are the details on this.

When Apple releases iOS 16 later this fall we can expect a raft of new features, not least an all-new Lock Screen that adds support for widgets.

But there is one change that hasn’t been shared by many and Apple definitely didn’t mention it during its announcement earlier in June. With iOS 16, the tiles in the newly redesigned Apple Home app can be resized.

The feature is available via a new Edit Home View setting. There, each tile can be tapped to change the size from small to large. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the size is freeform, however, meaning you can’t drag the tile to a specific size based on a whim. Instead, iOS 16 offers small and large tiles and that’s all. That may change in subsequent betas, however.

Apple’s iOS 16 is now available as a second developer beta with a public beta expected to be offered next month. Those who are waiting for the finished article will have to hang fire, though — the final iOS 16 release isn’t expected to be made available until later this fall, likely in or around September.

The iOS 16 update isn’t the only one coming, of course. Apple’s new iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura updates are all also available in developer beta form right now ahead of public releases that should all take place around the same time.
