macOS Monterey 12.1 And HomePod Software 15.2 Download Released To The Public

Apple has today released macOS Monterey 12.1 and HomePod Software 15.2 following a beta program that lasted a number of weeks. Both updates are available for download around the world today.

As with most updates, a mixture of new features and fixes is in order here and users should download both releases as soon as possible.

macOS Monterey 12.1

The headline feature here is support for SharePlay, allowing people to watch and listen to content with other people via FaceTime. There are other additions as well including support for the Apple Music Voice Plan and more.

macOS Monterey 12.1 adds SharePlay, an entirely new way to have shared experiences with family and friends in FaceTime. This update also includes the Apple Music Voice Plan, new safety features for children and parents in Messages, redesigned Memories in Photos, and other features and bug fixes for your Mac.

The new update can be downloaded via the System Preferences app on existing macOS Monterey devices.

HomePod Software 15.2

Today’s update again adds support for the Apple Music Voice Plan, while additional languages are also supported by Siri on HomePod mini and HomePod speakers. Dutch (Belgium, Netherlands), French (Belgium, Switzerland), German (Switzerland), Italian (Switzerland), and Russian languages are supported.

Software version 15.2 includes support for Apple Music Voice Plan, a new subscription tier designed to access music using Siri, and extends Siri voice recognition to new languages. This update also includes performance and stability improvements.

HomePod software is normally installed automatically, while manual installations can be done via the Home app, too.
