Kuo: Apple Reportedly Working On A 9-Inch Foldable Device

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is now working on a new foldable device that uses a 9-inch screen, although we are still likely to be a couple of years away from a foldable device being made available to buy.

In a post to Twitter, Kuo said that he expects Apple to ship its first foldable device in 2025.

However, it isn’t year clear whether that device will be a foldable iPhone, iPad, or other type of hybrid device.

I expected Apple to launch a foldable iPhone as soon as 2024 in my reports last year, but now it’s clear this prediction needs to be revised. I predict Apple may launch its first foldable product in 2025 at the earliest, which may be a foldable iPad or a hybrid of iPad & iPhone.

Previous foldable rumors had Apple considering a 20-inch foldable of some sort. Display analyst Ross Young believes that Apple could launch a foldable MacBook of some description, while a more recent report has Apple working with LG Display on a foldable OLED panel that would use an ultra-thin glass screen.

While Apple is yet to dip its toe into the foldable world, that hasn’t stopped the competition from forging ahead. Samsung, Motorola, and others have multiple foldable devices on sale at this point while others are already planned for future launch.
