iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max with 5G specs, price, release date have all been announced. Here are the details.

As expected, Apple has used today’s digital-only “Hi, Speed” event at Apple Park to introduce the brand new next-generation iPhone. Again, as expected, we got introduced to not one, not two, not three, but four brand new iPhone models in the iPhone 12 range.

For a lot of people, the iPhone range is starting to get a little fragmented and confusing, so here is everything that you need to know, but one theme common across the board for all four phones, is 5G connectivity, and, wait for it…MagSafe wireless charging!

Simply attached to the back of all four new iPhones, and voila! MagSafe charging resurrected on the iPhone. Who would’ve thought.

iPhone 12 (6.1-inch)

The iPhone 12 mini ships with a 6.1-inch OLED display offering a 2532-by-1170 resolution at 460 ppi. The phone will run Apple’s latest A14 chip and will feature an overhauled design comprising of a metal frame that immediately conjures up memories of the stunning iPhone 4.

Would-be owners can choose from Black, White, (PRODUCT)RED, Blue, and Green colors and 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB storage options. The mini supports 5G connectivity if/when their network supports it.

The rear of the device will feature a dual-lens camera system with the front of the device using the notch to hide Apple’s TrueDepth camera system that allows Face ID to work its magic, which also happens to be the fastest till date.

The camera, as expected, is a dual lens setup with a normal wide angle and an ultrawide 120-degree. It also now features Smart HDR 3, an update over the iPhone 11.

Apple’s iPhone 12 will cost $799 with pre-orders starting this coming Friday. Apple will start shipping the iPhone 12 on October 23.

iPhone 12 mini (5.4-inch)

The iPhone 12 mini has all the features packed into the iPhone 12, including the camera, but has a smaller 1080p display. While the display itself is larger than the 4.7-inch iPhone, the footprint is actually smaller here. Pretty cool! The iPhone 12 mini will also benefit from a 2,227 mAh hour battery.

It will be available in Black, White, (PRODUCT)RED, Blue, and Green colors with storage options being 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

iPhone 12 Pro (6.1-inch)

Featuring the flat frame like the iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 mini, we see considerable reduction in bezels here, which also happens make the Pro and Pro Max feel taller and slimmer than the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

At the heart of the phone is the A14 Bionic CPU. The Camera on the iPhone 12 Pro now features a 4x optical zoom! There’s also the ability to now record 10-bit HDR videos in Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision grading is processed live and sustained during editing, whether in the Photos app or iMovie, and coming to Final Cut Pro X later this year.

iPhone 12 Pro models also feature the new Apple ProRAW, coming later this year, which combines Apple’s multiframe image processing and computational photography with the versatility of a RAW format. Users can experience full creative control over color, detail, and dynamic range natively on iPhone or with other professional photo editing apps.

Improvements made to Night Mode for the rear-facing cameras have now been extended to the True Depth and Ultrawide cameras as well.

There’s also the presence of a LiDAR as had been rumored for some time which not only gives you features like object detection, room scanning and more, but also helps with the camera system on the Pro and Pro Max.

This technology delivers faster, more realistic AR experiences and improves autofocus by 6x in low-light scenes for more accuracy and reduced capture time in photos and videos. This advanced hardware, combined with the power of the Neural Engine of A14 Bionic, also unlocks Night mode portraits, rendering a beautiful low-light bokeh effect.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max packs a 5x telephoto zoom, and the wide camera sensor is actually 47% larger! Apple’s also making use of a new OIS tech; sensor-shift optical image stabilization, which simply put, allows you to take a 2 second stabilized exposure.

MagSafe Wireless Charger

With the AirPower out of the picture, we now have MagSafe charging on the new iPhones. As expected, the charger simply attaches it self to the back of the iPhone and voila!

The magnets in the back of the new iPhones also help with the fact that compatible accessories can now be attached to the back.
