Google Reportedly Readying Pixel Buds Pro To Compete With AirPods Pro

Google is reportedly working on new earbuds that will go by the name Pixel Buds Pro in an attempt to compete with AirPods Pro.

The earbuds will be a higher-end version of the current Pixel Buds, likely with additional features.

According to leaker John Prosser, the Pixel Buds Pro will be announced “soon” with four colors offered at launch; Real Red, Carbon, Limoncello, and Fog. There is no hard release window that has been shared as part of this leak, but it seems likely that this could all tie into the impending Google I/O event. The developer conference could see Google announce new hardware, including those new Pixel Buds Pro.

We really don’t know much more than that name and the supposed colors that will be offered, though. The Pixel Buds currently sell for $99 which leaves plenty of room for a more impressive feature set that would presumably include active noise cancelation ANC. A new design also seems likely, with the potential for larger batteries that would negate the extra power required to offer ANC.

Google I/O will take place on May 11 and May 12, so if Google is indeed going to announce some new earbuds we should perhaps expect to hear more about them within the next few days.
