Download: iOS 15.1 RC, macOS Monterey RC And More Released

Apple today held its Unleashed special event with new AirPods, HomePod minis, and MacBook Pros announced. The company also confirmed that iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and macOS Monterey will all be made available next week — with the release candidate updates for all of those now available for developers to download.

Registered developers can download all of the new updates right now, with the required installation profiles needed before anything can be done. Apple has also released the RC version of watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1, and iPadOS 15.1 to download.

We can also expect these same updates to be made available to those on the various public beta programs in due course — likely tomorrow.

While the new iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 updates are improvements to the existing releases, macOS Monterey is a big update for Mac users as Apple gets ready for those new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

One of the biggest improvements there will be the use of a new Universal Control mode that will allow users to share a Mac and Keyboard across iPads and Macs. The feature is likely to be dubbed a beta initially, however.

This is also the update that will see Shortcuts come to the Mac for the first time, while macOS Monterey, iPadOS 15.1, and iOS 15.1 will also usher in the arrival of SharePlay. The new feature will allow users to watch content, listen to music, and more with other people on other devices across the internet. An Apple Fitness+ component is also coming, too.
