Apple is all set to unveil iPhone OS 4.0 tomorrow, at an event which will be held at their One Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino. There has been lots of talk lately about all the different features that might become a part of this major OS release. Here is a compilation of what to expect from iPhone OS 4.0.
Jailbreaking the iPhone has always been crucial, giving you access to a whole set of features, allowing you to install tons of useful apps which otherwise wouldn't have been possible, and most importantly, it also allows you to unlock your phone so that you can use it with any carrier. Apple of course patches all these loopholes in every new version of its OS which makes jailbreaking harder. But sooner or later, hackers have always managed to find new exploits which jailbreaks the iPhone on the latest firmware.
After the successful launch of iPad, Apple is now ready to reveal its new major release of iPhone OS for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. iPhone 4.0 is said to be a major milestone for Apple and so it is expected to add major features like multitasking, among many others to take on the ever growing competition from the likes of Android and Windows Phone 7.
Yet another iPhone 3GS ad has just been aired by Apple. As usual, they have nailed it well, showing off what the iPhone is better at doing than any of its competitors.
Previously, we gave you an in-depth step by step tutorial on how to turn your iPod touch into an iPhone, and then later how to turn your iPhone into an iPad (or iPad Nano). Deep down inside iPad’s file system, some amazing references have been found related to the upcoming iPod touch, iPhone and the iPad. So are we seeing something exciting coming up from Apple in the near future? Well only time will tell, for now, check out this screenshot below.
Apple has just released the iPhone SDK 3.2 on the iPhone Dev Center for developers, interested in developing for iPhone, iPod touch and the newly released iPad. iPhone SDK 3.2 includes the Xcode IDE, iPhone Simulator, and a suite of additional tools for developing applications for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Since the introduction of iPhone (EDGE) in 2007, Apple remained the unipolar champion of the smartphone world. But its unchallenged supremacy has now been challenged by other stalwarts like Google’s Android, and the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series by Microsoft. It will be obligatory for Apple to bring some innovative changes to the device and it just cannot afford the luxury of cooling its heels. In the meanwhile, Android continues to gather momentum, and whereas it lacks iPhone's content and elegance, yet it has started matching Apple in terms of features.
We saw a video a few days back in which Geohot performed an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3. This will most probably also work on the iPhone 3.2 firmware for iPad. In the meanwhile, another iPhone hacker by the name of comex released another video, which showed off untethered userland (browser based) jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. This new userland jailbreak of iPhone 3.1.3 by comex has now been given a name – say hello to “Spirit”, an untethered userland jailbreak for iPhone.
