Apple may be expected to announce the iPhone 5S on September 10th, but at the rate things are being leaked it's very difficult to believe that there will be any surprises left once Tim Cook and Phil Schiller set about unveiling Apple's latest top of the range iPhone. As is becoming the norm on a yearly basis now, Apple's various part suppliers have done a less than stellar job of keeping the new iPhone under wraps, with photos of the production and prototyping process popping up all over the place.
Picking up the latest and greatest iPhone always has one or two difficulties. For starters, you've got to find some place that has one in stock, and when a new handset has just launched that is something far from easy. If you do manage to be in the right store at the right time though, you're still faced with arguably the hardest part of the whole iPhone buying experience; actually having the cash to be able to pay for one.
As we move close to September 10th, the “expected” announcement date for the now labeled iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, speculations and rumors have increased manifold, not to mention leaks of all sizes. A new addition to the mix is another “alleged” color for the iPhone 5S, which is none other than graphite, according to a leak from none other than Sonny Dickson.
We're getting closer and closer to the expected September 10th announcement of whatever Apple ends up taking the covers off of, and the rumors and leaks are just beginning to really gather pace. So, it has recently come out of the woodwork that Apple will be holding a special event on September 10th. At this event, it's widely expected that Apple will release the iPhone 5S, the refresh to the aging iPhone 5, among a few other exciting products. The nature of this event is likely to be focused on iOS devices, it's almost guaranteed that we'll see the Golden Master (GM) release of Apple's new software - iOS 7 - on this date too. And if few more bugs are found, and we’re lucky enough, we might actually see another beta before the GM release.
Although we'll have to wait for the official announcement before we can, without any doubt, discover whether Apple does indeed intend to bring forth a gold 'champagne' color configuration for the iPhone 5S, strong reports - backed by physical evidence - have all-but confirmed the existence of a champagne / gold iPhone 5S. Today, high quality images of the rear shell of the device have emerged directly from Apple's supply chain, and as previously suspected, it's based heavily upon the White & Silver variant of the iPhone 5, with most of the silver areas instead finished in gleaming gold.
Although most of Apple's products, barring the almighty new Mac Pro, are produced in China, the world's most populous nation usually has to wait many months before the Cupertino's products see an official release. According to China's First Financial Daily, this won't be changing any time soon, with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C - both set to be announced on September 10th - apparently not arriving to the Chinese market until November 28th.
Intel's latest Haswell processors may not have increased performance a grand jot over last year's Ivy Bridge, but in terms of efficiency, the improvements are clear for all to see. With Apple's MacBook Air 2013 range already reaping the benefits with vastly increased battery life, the MacBook Pro notebook would seem next in line, and according to a report, Haswell-powered MacBook Pros will begin shipping next month.
As we move closer to the speculated next-generation iPhone announcement, we are seeing additional leaked images that claim to prove the existence of the champagne / gold iPhone 5S. Over the last seven days we have been hearing murmurings about whether or not Apple will be releasing the iPhone 5S in a variety of colors, with most of the attention being lavished on the purported gold - or champagne - variant of the new device. Whether or not that will actually happen is still up in the air, but the latest leaked images to come from Japanese sources show the purported gold / champagne colored hardware sitting alongside a black and white version of the current iPhone 5.
Since the focus of mainstream attention has remained almost squarely upon the progress of Apple's iOS 7 betas, it's rather easy to forget about OS X Mavericks 10.9, which is also currently being readied for prime time. While the name may have raised one or two eyebrows after a series of big cat releases, the changes made to the Mac operating system are very much business as usual, and the sixth developer preview doesn't appear to offer anything radically different from the previous offering.
