With Christian Bale having now been confirmed as playing Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic of the Apple co-founder, it seemed that Aaron Sorkin's much delayed and at one point almost crippled project was starting to gather pace. Today it now looks like it's well and truly trundling along rather nicely with rumors now swirling that the part of Jobs' partner in creating Apple has also been cast.
The Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus haven’t just been popular smartphones among critics and consumers, but in terms of sales, they’ve already broken all kinds of records. Rivaling vendors in the mobile industry have sought to counter, with Google having recently taken the wraps off the Motorola-made Nexus 6 smartphone, but the rampant success of the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus won't have stung any competitor quite as severely as Samsung. The Korean outfit's Note series, considered flagship alongside the Galaxy S line-up, has been a saving grace for fans of handsets with large displays, but even with the Galaxy Note 4 announcement being bolstered by the intriguing Galaxy Note Edge, there's seemingly little that the Tizen maker can do to halt the dominance of its bitter rival.
If you haven't been living under a rock, you would know that Handoff basically integrates your Mac and iOS device which allows the user to seamlessly begin task on one machine - say a Mac - and pick it up from another, such as an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Users can now smoothly 'hand off' a task to another device.
In the run-up to the launch of the Apple Watch, many expected the wearable to be treated to the "iWatch" moniker, but while we now know this will not be the case, the owner of the iWatch trademark in Europe is looking to diversify its business to include - yep - smartwatches. Probendi, a company based in Ireland, trademarked the name some time ago, and while the software outfit has very little experience in terms of hardware, is planning on coming through with its very own smartwatch anyway.
Apple TV has been steadily growing as one of Apple's hallmark products, even if the company never really intended it to be one. From a simple novelty to an actually usable content provision platform, Apple has grown its set top box steadily through the increase of newer and more channels available for streaming content from. Today, two new channels join the foray; Hallmark Cards' Feeln network, and FYI network from A&E, which are available right now should you own an Apple TV.
Following Tim Cook's appearance for an interview at the Wall Street Journal's WSJD Live conference, some very interesting bits of information have surfaced regarding Apple's rise against the tide - as always. Brief videos of the event have surfaced on the Internet and Cook is seen talking about the Apple Watch, Apple Pay, a very interesting prospective partnership with Alibaba, and more.
Apple's iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 were both unveiled just under two weeks ago at a special event on the Cupertino campus, and while we had long since anticipated a number of the features, there have been one or two surprises thrown in for good measure. No less, perhaps, is the fact that the iPad Air 2 includes NFC, something that the company neglected to mention at the keynote, but as we continue to digest the new interior hardware, one area that hasn't been the subject of much focus is the display. For those intrigued to see how the iPad Air 2's panel stands up against the iPad mini 3 and, also, the preceding iPad Air, this rather thorough shoot-out assesses the key features of each.
Apple is currently locked in a silent war with some retailers after the decided to not just ignore Apple's advances to bring Apple Pay to their customers but also actively made it impossible to use the service even after it was found to work in an unsupported capacity. In a world where you would expect all retailers to want to take money from potential customers, that just seems weird.
Looks like Apple may be looking beyond Apple Pay for its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices. The NFC chip in the two devices open up quite a few possibilities where Apple is reportedly in talks for partnerships, in a bid to expand the chip’s utility, thereby expanding the phone's utility in everyday life.
Carriers in South Korea have put Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-order estimates at 100,000 and above, which is almost three times more than the pre-orders collected for Samsung's Galaxy Note 4. With this happening on Samsung's own turf, is Apple all set to increase its smartphone market share?
