Bloomberg: Apple Event Planned For March 8 With 5G iPhone SE, iPad Air 5, And More Set To Be Announced

Apple has a March 8 special event planned, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The event will be Apple’s first of 2022 and will likely take place online with a streamed event replacing the once familiar in-person media events of the pre-pandemic days.

According to Bloomberg’s report we can expect Apple to announce its first 5G iPhone SE, a device that has been heavily rumored for a long time at this point.

The new device will come with Apple’s A15 chip inside, adding 5G to make it the company’s cheapest 5G iPhone ever. No design changes are expected, however, meaning a 4.7-inch LCD screen with a Home button should be the order of the day.

In terms of other announcements, Apple is also now expected to announce a refreshed iPad Air. Bloomberg says the new iPad Air will be announced alongside the aforementioned iPhone SE, adding 5G connectivity as well as the same A15 chip.

The same report also suggests that we could see a new Apple silicon Mac be announced although details on that are scarce.

Apple is thought to be working on a number of new machines including a refreshed iMac Pro, new Mac mini, and redesigned MacBook Air. That latter device is also likely to see the arrival of a new M2 chip as well.
