Apple Releases tvOS 15.4.1 For Apple TV To The Public

Apple has today dropped a surprise update for Apple TV users with tvOS 15.4.1 firmware update now available for download.

This update hasn’t seen any beta releases made available to developers or those on the public beta program, with the release going straigt into the wild.

Apple has made the update available for download via the usual Software Update mechanism within the Settings app and you can grab it now. Unfortunately, there are no release notes currently available to give us an indication as to what’s new in this release.

This new update comes a couple of weeks after Apple made tvOS 15.4 available to the public after a lengthy beta process. That update included a handful of changes and fixes including support for connecting Apple TV hardware to captive WiFi networks, like those at offices and in hotels.

While Apple isn’t yet saying what this new update has to offer, it comes alongside new iOS and iPadOS releases that bring bug fixes and security improvements. As ever, we would suggest that anyone with a compatible Apple TV device downloads the new update as soon as possible. Those with automatic updates enabled will likely see the update installed without any interaction needed over the coming days.

All of this comes just two months before Apple is expected to share the first details of tvOS 16, the next big release that will likely arrive during September or October. The announcement is likely to take place during WWDC, although the event itself hasn’t yet been confirmed. It normally takes place during June and is likely to be a virtual event once more.
