16-Inch MacBook Pro Announced: Specs, Features, Price

Apple has today announced the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, complete with a new Magic Keyboard built in. The new computer is available for order now but will take a few days to arrive.

This is a notebook that has been heavily rumored for so long we were starting to wonder whether it would actually happen.

But here it is, complete with a 16-inch Retina display and the latest 8-core processors. Power users can also opt for next-generation graphics with as much 8GB of RAM. System RAM also goes all the way up to 64GB, making this machine quite the power houses.

To power all this performance, MacBook Pro features a 100Wh battery — the largest ever in a Mac notebook — for an additional hour of battery life of up to 11 hours of wireless web browsing or Apple TV app video playback.

Perhaps the biggest news here though, is that new keyboard. Apple’s notebooks have struggled for keyboard longevity for years now, but Apple seems confident that the new Magic Keyboard used in the 16-inch MacBook Pro will put an end to that.

Featuring a new Magic Keyboard with a redesigned scissor mechanism and 1mm travel for a more satisfying key feel, the 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers the best typing experience ever in a Mac notebook.

We’ll reserve judgement on how well this keyboard will hold up until someone has used it for a few months.

Under that keyboard there is a new speaker setup, comprising no fewer than six new sound-makers. The Touch Bar remains, as does Touch ID, but a physical Escape key has been added.

Prices for the new 16-inch MacBook Pro start at $2,399, and the 15-inch MacBook Pro has now been removed from the lineup completely.

As part of the 16-inch MacBook Pro announcement Apple also confirmed that the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR will go on sale next month.
