Inspired by the overclocking capabilities of the Motorola Droid, folks at XDA-Developers have managed to overclock the most powerful Android phone available today – the Google Nexus One to 1.113Ghz. It is said to be running faster and is stable at this speed. It will be interesting to see how long can these XDA devs push to see the real potential and capabilities of this Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip.

After weeks of rumors, gossips, leaks and revelations, the much hyped Nexus One (aka the Google Phone) has finally been unveiled today in a press event ceremony held at the Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California. Powered by Android 2.1 operating system, the Google Nexus One features 3.7’’ AMOLED screen, 1Ghz Snapdragon processor with 512mb of Ram and 5 megapixels autofocus camera with flash. The phone has been designed by Google and is manufactured through their partner HTC.

Today is the big day for the Android side of the house. It is today when Google is finally going to unveil its latest darling to take on the iPhones, Droids, Pres and the HD2s of this era. Folks at Engadget, who got their hands on the device before Google’s announcement has put up an excellent review which covers all the pros and cons of the said phone. Their final verdict on the handset hasn't changed much from a couple of days ago when they first got hold of it.

Folks over at Engadget have got their hands on the Google Nexus One and their first impression of the device is “Nexus One thus far is .. not very different than the Droid in any substantial way.”. Yes, the phone does feel a tad faster to work with when compared to Droid, thanks to its 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. But the difference there is not by much.

Motorola Droid on Verizon Wireless in US doesn't support multitouch functionality in most apps even though the hardware is fully capable of running it. This is probably due to the US iPhone patents as the upcoming Google Nexus One phone will also have no multitouch functionality in browser and Maps app. The European version of Motorola Droid, called Motorola Milestone is fully capable of pinch to zoom and tap functionality just like the iPhone is.

More details have emerged regarding the upcoming Google phone called Nexus One. Tnkgrl Mobile who has had a hands on with the device has confirmed that Nexus One, like Motorola Droid on Verizon wont support multitouch, out of the box. Not atleast in the two apps (Browser and Google Maps) that she tried out.

It has now been confirmed that the Google Phone has been named as “Nexus One”. It has been designed by the folks at Google, and the hardware is manufactured by HTC. Nexus One will be sold online by Google, fully unlocked so that you can use it with any carrier you like. It is being reported that Nexus One will look alot like HTC Passion/Bravo which is also slated for 2010 release.
