If you own an iPod touch 4G, you would already know that the camera cannot take widescreen 720p photos. With a tweak called HD Photographer available in Cydia, you can now enable widescreen photos using the built-in camera app on the iPod touch 4G. This adds more pixels to the photos you take but at the price of losing the default 4:3 aspect ratio. Technically, this tweak increases the iPod touch 4G’s rear camera from 0.7 megapixels (960×720) to 1.0 megapixels (1280×720).

Mac4ever has posted rumors in a post today where they say that FaceTime, a video chatting service for iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G, will soon be coming to iChat which is an IM application that comes with OS X. They also say that iLife 11 (without iDVD) is coming soon.

iPod touch 4G was announced only a few days back at Apple’s annual “Special Media Event” in San Francisco. Even though the new “touch” has got two cameras: one on the back for HD video recording and one on the front for FaceTime calls, 960 x 640 Retina Display and all, but the fact that the camera on the back can only take still shots at 0.7 megapixels was met with disappointment by many.

We have already seen many different pictures of iPod touch 4 surfaced in the last month or so, and rumors are floating around that the new iPod touch will get a front-facing camera for FaceTime video calls, a rear camera for HD video recording, along with a Retina Display. Apple has just sent out invites for the “Special Event” which is going to be held on September 1st 2010 at 10AM Pacific Time / 1PM Eastern Time in San Francisco. Expect Apple to announce new iPod touch 4 with FaceTime, iTunes in Cloud, the new Apple TV (dubbed iTV), iOS 4.1 for iPhones and iPod touches and iOS 4 for iPad. Hopefully we will also have more updates related to the availability of White iPhone 4 which has been delayed twice for “until later this year”.

Folks at the MacMagazine claims to have got this information from reliable sources within Apple who has confirmed to them that instead of the usual Apple’s “Media event” in September, Apple this year will be hosting their event as early as mid of this August, somewhere around 14th to 16th. Since 14th August falls on Saturday, what they believe is that the event is likely going to be held on Monday or Tuesday i.e. 16th or 17th of this month.

MacRumors has got hold of parts of LCD assembly which is claimed to be from the upcoming 4th-generation iPod touch. The bezel over the front-LCD has a hole in the top center which is most likely going to be for a front-facing camera for making FaceTime video calls across all iOS devices. The well known International trade site Alibaba.com has posted some iPod touch parts, which they claim are from the upcoming next-gen iPod touch which is expected to be unveiled in September of this year. The shell, which is up for grabs on Alibaba.com includes LCD and digitizer, with a hole in the top center which could very well be used for a front-facing camera.
