The iPhone 4 is considered by many as the biggest leap in the advancement since the Apple smartphone's inception back in 2007. A completely overhauled, high-end design was accentuated further by the introduction of the Retina display, and belatedly perhaps, the camera was given an uber-bright LED flash. A complete win. Typically of Apple, the flash feature felt slightly unfinished, since while some apps allow the LED to operate in torch mode prior to the taking of a snap, Apple's native Camera app does not offer this facility. Luckily, there's a tweak for that, and it goes by the name of PhotoTorch.
There is no doubt about the fact that battery is one of the most important aspects of any mobile device. A device can be the most beautiful, elegant creation in the world and contain some of the most advanced features that we have seen in the mobile game, but if the battery doesn't last five minutes then the whole design process has been in vein. Apple's iOS devices do a fairly good job of keeping the user informed of the current battery level through a tidy little icon and optional percentage indication, but for those jailbroken users who want to make a little aesthetic tweak then the Live Battery Indicator package could be the solution.
At this years’ Hack in the Box conference in Amsterdam, Evad3rs not only presented the Evasi0n jailbreak, but also took time out to answer some of the common questions in a separate exclusive Q&A session with the press. The video recording of this session is now available online for everyone to see.
One of the most incessantly annoying features of iOS's functionality is the fact that whenever you open up an App Store link in your browser, in the Notes app, or within any other app for that matter, it automatically jumps away from what you're doing, and takes you straight to the page of the game or app in App Store app. This rather irritating trait is also manifested on OS X, with iTunes popping up by default when you're just looking to check out an app's reputation in your browser. Luckily, jailbreaks mean the pet peeves of most users can be nullified, and with a nifty little tweak by the name of QuickStore, clicked App Store links will appear in a versatile pop-up window as opposed to dragging you away from your app-in-hand.
It has been just under two weeks since Mark Zuckerberg invited various members of the press to Facebook's Menlo Park headquarters to discuss the new Facebook Home for Android, and although its subsequent release was restricted to only a handful of devices, the integration of the Chat Heads feature into Facebook Messenger for Android offered the wider audience a taste of the new social plugin. Now, it has been revealed that Chat Heads will also be making its way onto Facebook for iOS, with an App Store update imminent.
Abstergo Gives You Greater Control Over iOS Notifications, Lets You Set Reminders For Later And More
We already know that Cydia and the official repositories are full of fantastic, powerful and innovative packages that make interacting with our iOS devices a lot more pleasurable. We also understand that developers and designers are always working hard behind the scenes to improve their existing packages or come up with new offerings that provide some needed functionality to the loyal jailbreak user base. It seems that Joshua Tucker and Andrew Richardson have been doing exactly that and are all set to release their new notification and scheduling centric tweak that will be known as Abstergo, which will land on Cydia on April 21st.
One of Google's staple brands, YouTube has a presence just about everywhere. Today sees an update to one of the most popular YouTube apps around - the iPhone and iPad app.
Are you one of those iPhone users who are just simply too cool to walk around with the ringtone enabled on the device? I'm pretty sure we have all gone through a phase of leaving our devices permanently on silent in an attempt to escape the consistent ringing that comes from friends, family members and colleagues. And while it may be the best move for our social lives, it certainly does a lot for our sanity. If operating an iPhone in a permanent state of ringer silence is part and parcel of your daily usage cycle, then perhaps the new Calmi jailbreak tweak is worth checking out.
We've been witness to a number of changes in the past that have been introduced by Apple as part of their plan to enhance iOS and make it a more usable mobile operating system for its millions of users around the world. One of those changes that well and truly split opinion at the time was the introduction of the 'Camera Grabber' on the iOS lock screen that essentially allows users to launch the Camera app without having to unlock the device. Some feel that Apple should natively allow users to change the function of that particular button, but as we know where there is a will, there's a generally a jailbreak based way.
I cannot recall seeing a wider variety of concept ideas for a piece of software than I have recently for iOS 7, and with the tech community anticipating some big changes thanks to the increased influence of one Jony Ive, it's hardly surprising to see designers tripping over themselves to bring forth their ideas and coming up with all sorts of iOS 7 concepts. One in particular from YouTuber iamthe6ixth offers a somewhat alternative take on the vast majority of those we've looked at hitherto, and instead of playing on the idea of a dramatically altered user interface, this concept presents changes pertaining to the functionality and behavior of iOS.
