Apple has never been one to dive head-first into a new mobile craze, preferring to hold back, refine the process or feature, and join the party fashionably late. Samsung may be on its fourth top-end phablet already thanks to the dual-release of the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge at last week’s IFA, but three years after Berlin played host to the original Galaxy Note, Apple today gave those who craved iOS over a larger canvas something to savor. In the run-up to today’s events, it was suggested that Apple’s device would include a ‘one-handed mode’ for comfortable use of a potentially unwieldy device, and with the announcement, we got a taster of “Reachability.” Now, we have a video demo to gawk at.

Apple’s mammoth launch today of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch may be done with, but with so much having been announced in a short space of time, only now do we get the chance to take a step back and digest the new features. As mentioned by Tim Cook towards the close of today’s big keynote event, U2’s close relationship with Apple goes way back. From the Irish quartet being featured on the iconic Vertigo ad to the release of the limited edition black and red U2 iPods, Bono and his band have been an almost permanent fixture of Apple’s romance with the music industry, and having performed as a special guest at the end of the Flint Center’s iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch announcement, U2’s new album is available to download for free on Apple’s iTunes Music Store.

Apple has just announced two new iPhones in the form of the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6, but while many had reported that the iPhone 5c would be instantly removed from the line-up, the Cupertino company has opted to keep last year’s releases retailing for the time being. As we noted in our earlier coverage, both 5s and 5c have been in receipt of handsome price drops, and with four smartphone options now on the table from Apple, we take a look at how each stands up against the other.

Having finally unleashed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus at its special event in Cupertino, Apple also took the wraps off its mobile payment system dubbed Apple Pay.
