As mentioned by Tim Cook towards the close of today's big keynote event, U2's close relationship with Apple goes way back. From the Irish quartet being featured on the iconic Vertigo ad to the release of the limited edition black and red U2 iPods, Bono and his band have been an almost permanent fixture of Apple's romance with the music industry, and having performed as a special guest at the end of the Flint Center's iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch announcement, U2's new album is available to download for free on Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Naturally, each has been dropped in price, and as well as being able to grab the iPhone 5s on contract for just $99 now, folks can also avail the iPhone 5c free of charge on a two-year package.

The Cupertino company’s media event is undoubtedly the most anticipated Apple event for quite some time and is all set to kick off at 10am Pacific Time today, Tuesday, September 9th. Carrying on with Apple’s recent tradition of boasting about the fact that its products are “Designed by Apple in California”, the media event will be held in Cupertino, California at the Flint Center.
