Reliable Leaker Says We Can Expect A New iMac, Mac Mini Soon

A reliable leaker today took to Twitter to suggest we can expect Apple to announce a new iMac and Mac mini “soon.” The CoinX Twitter account is operated by someone who has a good track record with such things, so there’s plenty of reason to think there might be something to this.

According to the tweet, Apple will announce a new iMac and new Mac mini “soon,” although that is as much as it said.  It isn’t clear whether these new machines will be slight specification bumps or all-new designs, either. The Mac mini last saw a big refresh in October of 2018, so it’s probably due a spec bump round about now.

But the iMac is a different story. It saw its own spec bump in January of 2019, but has not seen a big design change in a good long while. It’s already a generation behind the iMac Pro in the way its internal cooling operates. And the current iMac is still offered with spinning hard disks at the low end. If anything, we’d hope that is something that is rectified with this update.

We don’t know how soon “soon” is, but with Apple heavily rumored to have a March event planned, it’s possible we might see something in the coming days or weeks.

However, the current coronavirus impact may mean that Apple announces the products via press release rather than holding a media event at Apple Park.
