The first-person shooter genre has really flourished on modern mobile devices, and up there mixing it with the best of them is Gameloft's modern combat series. The publisher has quite a few similar titles available for both Android and iOS, but the Modern Combat franchise has easily been its strongest hitherto. Having already developed a strong legion of fans, Gameloft has just gone ahead and teased a trailer for Modern Combat 5, and even though the previous releases have enjoyed high-end, console-esque visuals and gameplay, this latest version appears to have stepped things up once more. WWDC begins next week, and during the course of the past three or four months, we've covered literally dozens of concepts pertaining to the biggest talking point at Apple's WWDC 2013: iOS 7. Designers have been working overtime to deliver their ideas and predictions in image and video form, but concept maker Steve King has gone a step further in creating an interactive iOS 7 concept which can be tested right now on a mockup iPhone 5S on the Web.
BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) has hitherto been an exclusive flagship feature of the BlackBerry platform, but with the company having recently announced its decision to allow the instant messaging service to fly the nest as it were by crossing platforms to both iOS and Android, it now looks as though BBM for iOS and Android may just be a few weeks away now. According to a tweet sent out by T-Mobile UK, which was later pulled, it's going to be hitting the App Store and Google Play Store on June 27th, and with the once-dominant BlackBerry brand struggling even after its big overhaul, this move will certainly help get the name back into circulation.
Diablo III holds the record as the fastest selling PC game of all time, but since it tends to be only the really hardcore gamers bumping up their graphics cards and battling it out on Windows, it makes sense that such a runaway success would eventually manifest itself on console. As of September 3rd, both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming fans will be able to get their Diablo III fix, with Activision Blizzard having just made the announcement of the title for the two market-leading current-gen consoles. The jailbreak scene is an ever changing landscape. What's new, noteworthy and popular on any given day can easily be cast into obscurity on the next, leaving space for a new package to step into the limelight and gain praise. Over the last few years we have seen a number of powerful and innovative solutions that allow jailbroken iOS users to quickly and efficiently access commonly used system settings without having to drill-down into menu structures within the Settings app. Most of those offerings have come in the form of some kind of modal overlay, or are accessed by other means, but now we have a new centralized toggle system called FlipSwitch and it's about to take the limelight.

British Airways, the UK's biggest airline, has just added boarding pass support to Apple's native Passbook app for iOS. Considering Passbook first arrived back in September along with iOS 6, it has been a long time in coming, and you can catch all of the details after the break along with the download link to the app!
Apple has just updated its iTunes app with a couple of rudimentary improvements and bug fixes. Notably, the bug that would previously cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly when syncing switched from wired and wireless has now been plugged, and a further issue which meant users would need to sign in repeatedly to the iTunes Store has also been sorted out. Thunderbolt 2, which has hitherto been recognized only under its code name "Falcon Ridge," is real, and Intel is planning on launching it later on in 2013. Most notably, Thunderbolt 2 offer bandwidth of up to 20 Gbps, which would not only facilitate simultaneous high-speed transfers, but also be capable of transferring and displaying 4K video.
Microsoft recently revealed all of the key details pertaining to the forthcoming Windows 8.1, but aside from a few screenshots, we haven't yet been dealt a proper, close-up insight of what the newly updated OS will look like when in action. Today, however, the Redmond dropped a short video clip offering the world its first significant look at Windows 8.1, and although the numbering suggests the update is actually minor, together, these rather small little tweaks make for a wholly rather significant change from the Windows 8 platform preceding it.
