How To Enable Black Live Tiles Theme On Windows Phone

Ben Reid·March 19, 2014
If you're accustomed to the tiled interface of Windows Phone 8, you'll be aware of how easy it is to change the color of the theme / accent to whatever you want. Well, almost anything; for while one can accent the user-interface with a bunch of exotic colors ranging from cobalt to crimson, there's no immediately apparent black option. If you've spent some time rootling around your device's settings, you may already have discovered how to inject the jet-black finish upon the UI, but if you haven't and would like to know how, below you'll find a little tutorial covering the steps.

These Leaked Screenshots Of iOS 8 Confirm Healthbook App Mockups

Ben Reid·March 19, 2014
Since the past few days, we've been hearing about Apple's supposed iOS 8 Healthbook app endeavors, and today, a new screenshot released into the wild via China's Twitter-like service Weibo offers what appears to be a legitimate glimpse of the app running on iOS 8.

Android Wear: Google Smartwatch OS Announced, Developer Preview Available Today [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·March 19, 2014
With Samsung having already announced the Gear 2 and Gear Fit smartwatches at Mobile World Congress, it was only going to be a matter of time before the other big names in tech joined the fray, and amid ongoing rumors that Apple will drop its elusive 'iWatch' product later this year, Google has gone ahead and released the Developer Preview of its 'Android Wear' SDK. As the name implies, this particular flavor of the search giant's open-source platform is designed specifically for wearables, and the Big G also took the opportunity to reel off a bunch of manufacturers, including Motorola and HTC, that will begin releasing wearable products using the software later on this year.

New iPad Pro Concept Packs A 12.9-inch 4K Display, iPad Air-Like Form Factor And More [Images]

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
A new iPad Pro concept cooked up by the folks of German design outfit CURVED Labs demonstrates precisely the kind of product that power users of the Apple slate would probably be seeking. Packing a sumptuous 12.9-inch 4K display of almost 300ppi, the device, which does seem a little idealistic if we're honest, manages to retain the same thinness as the iPad Air, and although we doubt that Apple could possibly stuff such a high-spec IPS panel in this kind of form factor, it's not as though Jony Ive and his hardware design team haven't pulled off similarly improbable feats in the past.

Galaxy S5 Pricing Details Revealed By Three UK

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
The Samsung Galaxy S5 may have been announced some three weeks ago, but its Korean maker has been rather tight-lipped regarding pricing and availability. We now know that the forthcoming flagship will begin retailing in early April, with pre-orders beginning later on this month, and now, UK network operator Three has divulged its pricing details of the sought-after handset.

Apple Discontinues iPad 2, Replaces It With Retina iPad 4 At Same Price Point

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
It was back in 2011 that Apple first brought us the iPad 2, and after three years of loyal service, the device has finally been retired. Replacing it as understudy to the iPad Air will be the iPad 4 - arguably the righteous holder of this particular position - and with a Retina display, Lightning connector and a beefy A6X processor, it's a notable improvement on the iPad 2.

Android To iOS Cross-Platform Multiplayer Gaming Arrives With Google Play Update

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
Apple and Game Center has long since facilitated multiplayer gaming for those running iOS devices, and thanks to a recent update, Google Play Game Services will offer something similar to those rocking iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. What's more, as well as allowing gamers to compete against each other on iOS, developers integrating Google Play Game Services into their titles will enable players to compete cross-platform with users on Android, outlining the search giant's intention to expand and improve the online capabilities of the Play Store.

Angry Birds Epic Download For iOS Now Available [Download Link]

Oliver Haslam·March 18, 2014
When it comes to success stories, they don't come much bigger than Rovio and its Angry Birds franchise. Since its initial release back in 2009, the world has gone Angry Birds crazy, with merchandise ranging from lunch boxes to food and beyond. It's fair to say that Rovio has done OK for itself, and as a result it's found itself confident enough to branch out from the tried and tested formula of flinging birds at pigs. Relatively hot on the heals of Angry Birds Go, a kart racer, Rovio earlier this month teased Angry Birds Epic, and now it's ready for prime time. At least, partly.

iOS 7 Security Is ‘Much Worse’ Than iOS 6, Says Researcher

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
A security researcher has discovered major a flaw in the iOS 7 security system, apparently brought about by a botched attempt by Apple to patch an issue specific to iOS 6. The kernel exploit, if anything, has only been aggravated by the Cupertino's intervention, and as such, Azimuth Security researcher Tarjei Mandt believes that iOS 7 is "much worse" than its predecessor with regards security.

How To Enable Hidden Wallpapers In iOS 7

Ben Reid·March 18, 2014
One new feature that Apple added with iOS 7 was the ability to enjoy dynamic wallpapers, yet like all previously-unseen implementations, Apple held back on a few experimental features when it came down to the final, end-user release. It's often the case that, rather than remove features entirely, Apple simply hides them, before phasing them out at a later date, but if you want to enjoy some of the wallpaper animations and effects that didn't quite make the cut, then HiddenWallpapers is the tweak for you. Check it out after the fold!
