New iPhone 9 / iPhone SE 2 Renders Show iPhone 8-Like Body With Glass Back

Notorious leaker and render-maker @OnLeaks has been at it again, this time putting together a render of what he believes the iPhone 9 will look like, or iPhone SE2, depending on who you listen to.

OnLeaks shared his renders with iGeeksblog and they certainly look the part. The phone is said to be just months away from release and will likely replace the iPhone 8 in Apple’s lineup. To that end, this thing looks very much like an iPhone 8 except for one big difference – it looks like it might have a frosted glass rear panel just like the iPhone 11 Pro.

OnLeaks presumes that the back glass will be the differentiating factor between iPhone 8 and the new device. So, he has rendered a frosted glass back quite like iPhone 11 Pro instead of a glossy glass of current iPhone 8.

If that is indeed correct, then the smart money would be on this also supporting wireless charging, just like Apple’s other recent releases.

Inside we’re expecting Apple’s A13 Bionic chip, with a 4.7-inch LCD screen in front of it. Touch ID and indeed the Home button will remain, just as expected.

OnLeaks does tend to have a relatively good history with these kinds of things, so it’s possible we’re now looking at the new iPhone 9. Apple is rumored to be getting ready to announce it in or around March, so if that’s the case we won’t have to wait too long before we find out just how accurate this renders turned out to be.
