New iPad mini 6 Leak Might Confirm Redesigns, Apple Pencil 2 Support, And Relocated Buttons

Apple is set to announce a new iPad mini within the next few weeks, assuming rumors turn out to be accurate. We might have just been given our first real look at the device as well, assuming new images that appear to show it in a clear case turn out to be accurate.

Shared to Twitter by Majin Bu, the images show an iPad mini in a case in what appears to be marketing imagery for said case.

But there are a few things that don’t quite match up with previous rumors.

The first of those is the Apple Pencil that’s attached. This appears to be the current Apple Pencil 2 stylus, which is almost as big as the iPad mini itself. Recent rumors already have Apple creating a special iPad mini just for the tablet, although that could also be wide of the mark — we might need to wait for the product to be announced to be sure.

Another odd change is the way the images show an iPad mini with its volume buttons on the top of the device, rather than on the side. That’s a move that would be required if the Apple Pencil situation is accurate, so again, we’ll have to wait and see.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will announce the iPad mini 6 and new MacBook Pro notebooks at an event within the next few weeks, leaving the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 to take the center stage at tonight’s online event.
