You don’t need to have been following along too closely to know that there has been a ton of talk about Apple’s plans to ditch the EarPods and charger from the iPhone 12 box. Now we’re seeing what is claimed to be the box insert for the new iPhones, and it’s very slim indeed.

Shared by YouTube channel ConceptsiPhone’s Instagram account, the image apparently comes from a “really reliable source” although that obviously doesn’t mean that it’s legitimate.

But if it is, it does look likely that there won’t be space for anything like a charger or earphones.

The tray we see here is what an iPhone would normally sit atop in its box. You can see space for a Lightning cable to be coiled up as well as the Apple stickers and paperwork that would come with a new device. But the cutouts aren’t large or deep enough to house the charger in particular – adding more fuel to the fire relating to suggestions the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro won’t come with one in the box.

This wouldn’t be the first time Apple has gone that route, either. The Apple Watch Series 3 doesn’t ship with a charger, although it does have a cable. Could Apple be following a similar method here?

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in September or October, depending on how impactful the coronavirus pandemic has been to the company’s launch plans.
