You can now download iOS 12.4.4 IPSW links and OTA Update for your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 5S, older iPad models and iPod touch 6G. Here are the details on it.

Apple has rolled out iOS 12.4.4 for the iPhone 6, iPhone 5S and other devices, following the arrival of iOS 13.3 for newer devices. The update is also available for some iPads including the iPad Air (1st generation), iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3.

Unfortunately, Apple’s release notes don’t say a great deal about what has changed in this release or what users should be looking out for. It does say that the update is recommended for all users, although that’s something it says as a matter of course.

That being said, we’d definitely suggest that users update sooner rather than later. It’s likely that the update includes at least some bug or security fixes otherwise there is little reason for it to be released at all. For that reason, it’s definitely worth getting installed if you’re using one of the iPhones or iPads that it supports.

It’s worth noting just how far back this update goes. The iPhone 5S – one of the devices that this update is for – was originally released all the way back in 2013. That phone is now six years old.

Apple does sometimes release updates for older devices if there is a specific need, so it’s odd that there isn’t any real information in this set of release notes. Whatever it fixes or addresses, it must have been important enough for Apple to put the work in to get this release out the door.
