A few years ago, it would have been unthinkable for Apple to be preparing official support for gaming controllers on iOS, but the Tim Cook era of the Cupertino company seems a lot more open to new ideas. For quite a while, it's been of public knowledge that iOS would be allowing third parties to create gaming controllers for iPhones and iPads to take full advantage of the App Store's increasing gaming prowess, and MOGA's Ace Power effort looks to have been inadvertently showcased thanks to a YouTube clip.
Apple has officially published their latest financial results that give a thorough insight into how the Cupertino based company has performed in the last fiscal quarter. Many technology analysts and industry insiders have been using the days running up to the Apple Earnings Conference Call to declare their predictions that the company would fall short of projections due to lackluster demand for the iPhone 5 because new devices were on the verge of being announced. With posted revenues of $37.5 billion it seems that Tim Cook and his executive team can take a lot of positives from the financial performance.
If you've been patiently waiting for BlackBerry to give you access to its BBM service on iOS or Android then you're in luck, because the Canadian firm has now opened its instant messaging system up to anyone, allowing existing users to invite their friends to join them on what was once the world's up and coming instant messaging service.
Earlier this week at Apple's latest media event, the Cupertino company finally released the newest Mac operating system: OS X Mavericks, to the world. Alongside this release came a more silent release of iOS 7.0.3 which brought with it full iCloud Keychain compatibility to go along with Mavericks. If you're unaware of what iCloud Keychain allows you to do, think of it like browser saved passwords, for all of your Apple devices. Once you have set up this new feature, you'll be able to sign into all of your favorite websites in Safari without having entered any of your passwords. It even stores your credit card details for purchases. Don't worry, the data is all encrypted locally, so Apple won't be handling all of your credit card numbers without your permission.
Apple often likes to point to how people use their iPhones and iPads in the real world when they have any kind of press meeting. It was evident once again at the new iPad and MacBook Pro event that we witnessed earlier this week. And with good reason, because iOS devices have generally changed the way we do so many things that Apple is right to show off about it.
Apart from all the great features which iOS 7 brings to the table, it also includes a bunch of cool APIs for accessory makers. Starting from iOS 7, manufacturers have full control over the throttle and can make full-fledged iOS 7 compatible game controllers which can be paired up with an iOS device over Bluetooth for gaming.
Apple's release of iOS 7 has been nothing if not controversial. As we sit here, a month after its release to the public, the seventh big release of Apple's iPhone and iPad software may be installed on millions upon millions of devices worldwide, but that doesn't mean that everyone is happy with it.
After a period of long wait, which almost feels like forever, Tweetbot 3 for iPhone has been finally released on the App Store, and as promised by its dev a while back, has been redesigned from the ground up to cater to the look and feel of iOS 7. More details and as well as direct App Store link can be found right here.
When you're on the way down it can often feel like events somehow transpire against you. It can almost feel like the world is against you, and that you just can't catch a break. We can't help but think that's exactly what the people at BlackBerry are feeling like right now.
The iPhone 5c and, more so, the iPhone 5s, are two of the hottest properties in tech right now, and with the former not being as "budget" as some had hoped while the latter remains in very short supply, it stands to reason that iPhone fans may instead opt for some of the alternatives out there. As well as the scores of options from rivaling mobile vendors, there are also plenty of interesting knockoffs, and Chinese outfit GooPhone has long since been making money by essentially ripping off Apple products. In light of those recent releases, GooPhone is back with the "i5c" and "i5s" to emulate the two flagship iPhones, and I think you will agree that both are extremely convincing.
