It's almost a year to the day that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed, and in the past twelve months, we've seen a marked uprising in previously unreleased, unseen and unheard content concerning the former Apple CEO. Recently in August, a rare twenty minute audio recording of Steve Jobs speaking at the 1983 International Design Conference in Aspen began doing the rounds, anybody wishing to listen in could do so by heading over to the Center for Design Innovation’s website.
Apple Vs Samsung Patent Spat And iPhone 5 Launch Both Saw Boost In Galaxy S III Sales, Study Reveals
Apple and Samsung, fierce competitors in a number of categories and markets, are primarily the vendors of the two biggest smartphones, and after the pair fought a brutal patent war in San Jose, the outcome saw sales of the Korean company's flagship Galaxy S III increase significantly. Moreover, the release of Apple's iPhone 5 - which sold in record numbers with 5 million units pushed on the first weekend alone - also saw consumers flock for the Galaxy S III, presumably having assessed the Cupertino's offering and deciding to opt for the quad-core handset.
It may not be news that will appease disgruntled iPhone 5 owners immediately, but it looks like Apple could be working hard on a solution that could potentially lay to rest the issues surrounding accessory compatibility with iOS devices that are built with the company's new Lightning port embedded within. The launch of the iPhone 5 didn't throw up any surprises in relation to the smaller dock connector port, mainly due to the fact that we had already seen multiple reports of the change but that didn't mean it was any less controversial.
A few weeks ago, Samsung sent a note to U.S. Courts stating that they believed that the iPhone 5 infringed upon multiple patents and that they expected to take Apple to the court over it after carefully analyzing the device. We discussed this in detail in an earlier post. Today, as expected, Samsung has filed a lawsuit against Apple.
The last few weeks have been extremely busy for Apple with the official public release of iOS 6 and the sixth-generation iPhone, and if today's speculation is anything to go by then it looks like Apple is set to ramp things up to the next level. Reports are suggesting that Apple has started the initial process of manufacturing the rumored iPad Mini that we have been hearing so much about in the Federative Republic of Brazil.

With the launch of the iPhone 5 and subsequent furor regarding iOS 6, the murmurs regarding the iPad Mini have died down somewhat over the past couple of weeks. However, CNN Fortune has learned through a “major Apple investor” that the Cupertino, California-based company will be releasing invitations for the special iPad Mini event on October 10th. This not only indicates the launch will likely be toward the latter stages of the month, but also infers shipping will begin early November, as opposed to this month, as some had previously speculated.
Owners of the sixth-generation iPhone on the Verizon network in the United States can now install an update on their device that addresses an issue with the handset reverting back to using cellular data even though it is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The issue isn't something that has been affecting every iPhone on the network, but users have found, in certain circumstances, that they have been eating into their data plans, and in some cases exceeding it, when they though they were connected to Wi-Fi.
