Know what's cooler than an iPhone announcement event? Two iPhone announcement events, and that's exactly what Apple has on the books for the 10th and 11th of September.
Apple has just released the 7th Developer Preview of their latest operating system for the Mac, OS X Mavericks 10.9. The new update, carrying the build number 13A569, is aimed towards developers for testing purposes and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store or Mac Dev Center.
So here we are, only a week away from Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C announcement. Apple has already sent event invites for its September 10th iPhone event, a date that the internet as a whole seems to have designated 'new iPhone day.'
Reports coming in from reputable sources in the past week or so all-but confirmed September 10th as the announcement date of the budget iPhone 5C and flagship iPhone 5S, but now, any notion of that doubt can be swept aside with Apple having just pushed out the invitations to the event for that very date. Both devices are expected to be showcased by Cook, Schiller and the rest of the usual suspects, and with exactly a week to go, we're very much looking forward to the official unveiling.
Apple is set to announce the low-cost iPhone 5C alongside the new flagship on September 10th, and with very little time between now and then, we're seeing a lot more by way of seemingly legitimate leaks. Yesterday, we caught a glimpse of the manual to be bundled in the iPhone 5C packaging, and now, more images, as well as a video, offer even more insight into the handset as well as the casing it will be shipped in when it makes retail.
If it seems like you can't go more than three clicks without being bombarded with new iPhone news, then we're going to have to apologies right here, and right now; this post isn't going to offer any respite.
We first heard a few days back that Apple would begin an iPhone trade-in program around the time of the release of the next-gen handsets, a move designed to boost general sales of the device from the company's own retail stores rather than partners. Today, the service has come into full effect and now, consumers will be able to trade-in their old devices in part-exchange for a gleaming new handset.
Apple likes to keep its nose clean when it comes to security flaws, and prides itself on offering consumers a slightly better deal than rivals when it comes to keeping its products water-tight from potential attacks. By and large, the company manages to remain a top of any such issues, and when such time comes as they do arise, the response is usually swift and successful. However, an old, and as-yet unpatched security flaw within OS X offers intruders a route to root, so to speak, and the method, which involves playing around with certain clock and user timestamp settings, is rather alarming.
It seems almost certain that Apple will introduce two new iPhones on September 10th, the date set for a special media event to showcase the budget iPhone 5C and the flagship iPhone 5S. But while we continue to see leaks an hear rumors of the iPad 5 and second-gen iPad mini, there hasn't been much indication to suggest that the upgraded tablets will be launching alongside those new iPhones. However, a report from Bloomberg cites "a person familiar with the matter" in stating that the Cupertino company has “several more game changers” in the offing, which could mean that we see those new iPads at the very same event.
Apple TV may be somewhat limited to the taste of many set-top box owners, but while those typically-Apple restrictions may prevent it from appealing to those with hacking on the brain, the fruit company has continued to evolve the small device from the hobby it once was. There's still no sign of a fully-fledged, connected TV effort just yet in spite of the conjecture from many an analyst, but today, Apple TV has been updated with support for a wide range of content services.
