Apple's iPhone 5s offered many new features and perks over the preceding iPhone 5, and the most obvious - aside from the gold color option - was the introduction of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Like many marquee features before it, Touch ID has been exclusive to the iPhone 5s for the duration of its tenure as Apple's flagship, but with the iPhone 6 now looming, it seems almost certain that the fingerprint sensor will also be added to the Cupertino's iPad roster. As well as bringing Touch ID to the iPad Air 2 and Retina iPad mini 3 later this year, it is also being reported that Apple is making some design changes for a more durable, reliable experience moving forward.
According to a report out of Thailand, two of Apple's main iPhone manufacturers have been hiring new staff en masse in preparation for the launch of the new iPhone 6. Foxconn has apparently beefed up personnel to the tune of over 100,000 workers, while Pegatron - a more recent addition to Apple's list of manufacturing partners - has also upped its numbers by almost one-third.
The world may be getting smaller and smaller thanks to the world wide web and modern technologies, but that doesn't mean that everything that's available to rent or buy in one country is available in them all. Apple's iTunes is a prime example of that, with some content available in the United States but not in others, and even some of that content that is available internationally is delayed before making its way outside the U.S. borders. It's a pain, but as always, there's a way around it.
The old saying of 'there's no smoke without fire' has never been more apt than Apple's fabled iWatch. With absolutely no news coming out of Apple in official channels, there have been enough leaks, and enough hiring of medical and fashion-oriented people that, at this point, we'd be flabbergasted if a smartwatch wasn't on Apple's roadmap. Quite when that will turn into a shipping product however, is anybody's guess.
With so much iOS 8 excitement and noise in the way, we tend to forget at times that iOS 7 still exists for devices in our pockets. And today we’ve learned that iOS 7 is due for an incremental update, in the form of 7.1.2, which should drop in a mere few days, according to a new report that has just surfaced.
In spite of the continual wave of information pertaining to the iPhone 6, Apple is said to have a further trick up its sleeve in the form of the elusive iWatch, which is also slated for release at some point this year.
Very much in danger of becoming something we're all sick and tired of hearing about, Apple's iWatch is more myth than reality at this point, but that doesn't seem to be about to stop anyone from claiming to have inside knowledge of what is going on with the oft-rumored smartwatch. The latest to chime in is Reuters, adding a little bit of class to what is usually a sea of random YouTube channels, social media sightings and French blog posts.
Apple's iOS 8 was announced a couple of weeks ago at the WWDC keynote event at the Moscone Center, but while, we were taken aback by how many features the company had packed into what was initially touted as a rudimentary update, we've been continually surprised by further clues on features as discovered through the subsequent iOS 8 betas. Earlier on this week, Apple rolled out iOS 8 beta 2 to developers, and having done some digging, one developer has manage to find and partially unlock the "City Tours" feature that Apple quietly alluded to before.
Although celebrities, by and large, tend to endorse products at will for a check, it's a bit of a running joke that despite their paid affiliations, famous individuals have something of an affinity to devices bearing Apple's famous logo. The Cupertino's recent acquisition of Beats Electronics may have made sense from a business point of view, but it's no coincidence that many celebrities have been spotted wearing Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine's iconic brand, and while football / soccer players can regularly be seen with a pair of Beats around their necks, FIFA's deal with Sony will pay heed to this throughout the current World Cup.
According to reports, Apple's elusive "iWatch" device will be packed to the gills with sensors as the company goes for the jugular of competitors like Sony, Samsung and Pebble. But now we're hearing that the wearable won't be the only Apple device abundant with sensors, with the iPhone 6 apparently set to contain a barometer / air pressure sensors for accurate readings of weather conditions and altitude.
