In a brief statement today, Apple has announced that they are going to delay the white iPhone 4 yet again. No specific date or month has been given for it’s availability. All they have said is that it will be available sometime later this year.
In Q3 of fiscal year 2010, Apple has reported a record 78 % increase in earnings. Apple, which is the most valuable technology company in the U.S. and the second most valuable U.S. company overall has reported earnings of $3.51 per diluted share which is significantly higher than the $3.11 per share estimates from Wall Street analysts. With these statistics, the company once again has broken its own previous records, this time reporting an extraordinary $15.7 billion in revenue and a net quarterly profit of $3.35 billion.
Earlier today, the guy behind Spirit jailbreak tool came out with a series of tweets which hints towards the possibility of the “next version” of Spirit jailbreak tool coming very soon. We don’t know for sure if it will be called Spirit or Spirit v2, but what we know is that it is based on userland exploit, and that it will work with all iOS based devices including iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0.1 / 4.1 and iPad on iOS 3.2.1.
We all know why Geohot left the whole jailbreak scene. He has already deleted his Twitter account, and his blog is set to invite-only viewing only. However before deleting his Twitter account, Geohot said to follow his friend Mike Cohen for all the future updates on jailbreak. He also said that “perhaps one of these days i’ll do a more formal goodbye”. And now it looks like he is probably going to make a comeback (perhaps for the last time?) with a new tool to jailbreak all iOS devices once and for all. This is what his friend mikecohenn wrote today:
Apple today has released iTunes 9.2.1 for both Windows and Mac OS X. This is a minor release which mainly brings stability & performance improvements, along with bug fixes when taking backups and syncing all the iOS based devices. Full change log is as follows.
MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has managed to unlock his iPhone 4 by a different method than the one shown by Planetbeing (of Android port for iPhone fame) last week. Apparently, there are three methods by which iPhone 4 baseband can be unlocked. The first one was used by Planetbeing and was demonstrated last week. This one by MuscleNerd uses a different technique. Image after the break.
Sherif Hashim, the guy who found the exploit to unlock 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 baseband on iPhones running iOS 4 is back with a video, which shows us how to activate iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G without the original SIM card. You can use any SIM card you like ! iPhone 4 users though will have to cut SIM to micro-SIM card size before using it.
With Sn0wbreeze 1.8 for Windows, you can now create custom firmware files of iOS 4.1 Beta for iPod touches which are already jailbroken on iOS 4.x. Currently, only iPhone 3GS (old bootrom pwned on iOS 4.x, and new bootrom pwned on 3.1.2 or with 3.1.2 SHSH blobs), iPod touch 2G (non-MC model, and already jailbroken on iOS 4.x), and iPod touch 3G and 2G (MC model) pwned on 3.1.2 or with 3.1.2 SHSH blobs are supported. So if you qualify any of these requirements, then you are good to go for a iOS 4.1 Beta jailbreak with sn0wbreeze 1.8. iPhone 3G users will have to jailbreak using Redsn0w, guide for which is posted here.
They sure have some sense of humor! The now-famous iPhone 4 Antenna Song was played before Steve Jobs took the stage in front of special invite-only iPhone 4 press conference to address the “reception issues” which has been plaguing users since its launch last month.
At the iPhone 4 press conference today, Steve Jobs announced that Apple has sold over 3 million iPhone 4s since its launch 3 weeks ago.
