Oliver Haslam has written about technology for over a decade. His work has been published in print at Macworld and online pretty much everywhere else. If it plugs in or has a battery, it's fair game.
With this year's Black Friday on November 28th, all the major retailers are already getting their ducks in a row to make sure that everyone is well aware of where they need to start lining up in order to try and bag themselves a bargain come opening time. Walmart is determined to steal a march on most other retailers though, and rather than simply announcing what will be on offer, the company is instead setting its stall out early.
The update to iOS 8.1.1 may have fixed some of the more ridiculous and irritating bugs that iOS 8 / 8.1 had managed to introduce, but it also has one undocumented benefit that will no doubt prove highly useful to those carrying iPhones and iPads with just 16GB of internal storage. Apple's introduction of the slo-mo feature with the iPhone 5s has proven itself to be extremely popular amongst users, and not just when filming videos of dogs jumping to catch Frisbees for YouTube. The feature has subsequently made its way into devices like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, again to huge acclaim.
Some jailbreak tweaks are the kind of thing that make people jailbreak in the first place and we have no hesitation in saying that Apex 2, initially released for iOS 7, was one of those tweaks. Now, Apex 2 has just received a new update that adds an important new feature to the mix - support for iOS 8.1.
There is a lot of talk right now about Apple's decision not to throw multiple gigabytes of memory at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, especially in light of how makers of Android smartphones tend to offer memory upwards of 2GB. Why, when some Android phones have up to three times as much memory, does the iPhone perform so well?
