Amazon 1-Hour ‘Prime Now’ Delivery Service Goes Live Across Manhattan

Amazon’s plan to take over the world of online ordering has taken another step forward today, with the firm now offering its impressive 1-hour delivery option to anyone, anywhere in Manhattan. More details on the news can be found right here after the break.

Originally only available to people living in the 10001 zip code and with the quickest option to other codes being the still rather awesome 2-hour delivery, Amazon has now rolled the stupendously fast 1-hour delivery option to the entire island.

Right now the Amazon Prime Now page still says that it is offered to ‘most’ Manhattan zip codes, but entering any other code into the site’s online zip code checker yields nothing put positive news. In fact, Amazon has confirmed that the service will now in fact cover the whole of Manhattan, regardless of what the site actually says.

That’s the good news out of the way. The bad news is that you will still need to be a Prime subscriber, but given anyone in their right mind already is, well, that’s just not going to be a problem for most. And, hey, you get 1-hour delivery. 1-hour!

Other existing restrictions still apply too. The special delivery is only available on what Amazon deems essentials, which means things like bathroom products, batteries and similar every-day items are included but you’re not going to be ordering that pair of expensive headphones with 1-hour delivery just yet. Amazon is working to improve its range of products as far as this super fast delivery option goes, but it’s going to take time.

That time is also going to be needed before Amazon Prime Now works its way out to other cities, but with Amazon signaling its intent with this latest move to expend Prime Now to new zip codes, we expect it to be moving on to new cities soon enough.

But when will it move to other cities is a question that is remained unanswered for now. Judging by how Amazon works though, we’re certain that the rollout would be gradual and we will definitely bring you the news when it does happen.

If you’re in Manhattan, then it’s time to order those batteries you’ve been wanting to get for a long time!
