T-Mobile Offers iPhone 5 For Free To Those Switching And Trading-In

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
T-Mobile, the United States' fourth largest mobile carrier, recently revealed its intention to officially carry the Apple iPhone. Since then, PR mode has been in full flow, and as well as already offering one of the best deals around - particularly with the flagship iPhone 5 - T-Mo has now begun a trade-in program hoped to entice consumers into making the switch.

How To Automatically Disable Android Passwords When Close To Recognized Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Devices

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
Smartphones are supposed to make our lives easier, and although, in some cases, the opposite is true, apps and ecosystems are progressively becoming more seamless and automated as time goes on. Whereas once upon a time, we'd have to turn our Wi-Fi off whenever we left the house, and remember to turn it back on when we arrived, things seem to take care of themselves. With that theme in mind, Bluetooth and Wifi Unlocker seeks to make your Android-using experience just that little bit less taxing by automatically unlocking your device when connected to a recognized Bluetooth or Wi-Fi device.

Instagraph Is A Instagram For Windows Phone App That Lets You Apply Filters And Upload Images To Instagram – Download Now!

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
You'd struggle to find any group of people more aware of Instagram's popularity than those stranded on the currently-unsupported Windows Phone platform, and although we've heard murmurings that an official version for Microsoft's fledgling platform could be forthcoming, said users have had to make the best of the scores of third-party apps offering very limited functionality. While the Instagram API has prevented any WP developer from creating an app with direct uploading capabilities, an interesting attempt to circumvent this (using a middleman server) has been devised by the folks at Venetasoft, and having already garnered a sneak peek at what the company's Instagraph app could offer to Instagram fans, the app is now officially available for download.

iPhone 5S Will Come In Two Different Screen Sizes, According To New Report

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
Spring is here, and the analysts are out in force with all kinds of predictions and estimations pertaining to Apple's upcoming major products. According to a series of previous reports, Apple's one-per-year iPhone release cycle could be finally breached in 2013, with many reckoning the Cupertino company to be readying two separate devices. This sentiment has been echoed today by Topeka Capital's Brian White, who believes the device will retail in "at least" two different screen sizes, in a move said to help counteract the vast range of choice offered by Android-powered handsets.

Facebook Rolls Out Brand New Emotion Tool To Share Your Mood With People On Your Timeline

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
It has been a rather busy past couple of months for Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook. With the News Feed revamp last month followed-up swiftly by the announcement of the Facebook Home for Android launcher late last week, the social network has just begun rolling out a brand new emotion feature to some users in the United States. Having initially run some tests back in January for the feature, which makes it easy for users to divulge their feelings, it looks as though it is ready for the public's consumption, and should begin to reach nations outside of The States before too long.

60,000 Android Apps Purged From Google Play Store In February To Fight Spam

Ben Reid·April 10, 2013
Google's Play entertainment store has lost 60,000 apps from its roster since last month, in what appears to be a move to combat widespread spam and low-quality apps. As reported by TechCrunch, it looks as though the vast majority of this mass cull didn't abide by Google's anti-spam policies, and were subsequently taken away. Although it's likely some of that number were pulled by the developers behind them, the disproportionately high figure of removed apps suggests the Play Store has been subject to the search giant's spring cleaning.

Why You Cant Downgrade iOS 6.1.3 To 6.1.2, 6.x Using Cydia’s SHSH / APTicket

Ben Reid·April 9, 2013
Cydia creator Jay Freeman, better known as Saurik, is well known for his long, insightful speeches on numerous topics relating to the jailbreak scene, and today, has taken to his official blog to give users a better insight into the limitations of SHSH blobs and APTickets. Backing up these little clusters of information offers significant downgrade potential to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users, but what has recently become apparent to Saurik, is that they're essentially useless to some of the more recent devices. As well as explaining and clarifying a few matters relating to APTickets and SHSH blobs, he also tries to convey, in layman's terms, why we cannot downgrade to 6.1.2-6.0 from 6.1.3 or later using Cydia’s SHSH blobs and APTickets on older A4 devices.

Overlays For Android Lets You Float Widgets Over Any App

Ben Reid·April 9, 2013
One of the primary advantages Android users have over their iOS-using peers, is the ability to install countless widgets. Whereas the iOS home screen isn’t particularly customizable without a jailbreak, the same department of any two random droids can look worlds apart thanks to the wonder of widgetry. It’s not all just about the look, of course, since these widgets can be effective sources of information / controls, and so it would stand to reason, then, that we may want to use them at anytime, and from within any app. Overlays, created by a veteran member of the XDA-Developers forums , does exactly that, and with plenty of options and features within the app itself, it’s a must-have for anybody with a staunch reliance on widgets. More details and the oh-so important download link can be found right after the jump.

Create Charlie Chaplin-Like Stop-Motion Videos On iPhone With ‘Fast Forward’

Ben Reid·April 9, 2013
Smartphones have made it very easy for almost anybody with a vested interest in photography, or cameras in general, to hone their skills. Okay, so Instagram doesn't really count, but you get the idea, and if you regularly use your smartphone to shoot and edit your very own video clips, you may be interested in a nifty little free app by the name of Fast Forward. It allows you to create wonderful stop-motion masterpieces by pre-setting the number of frames you wish to capture, as well as the amount of time between each frame, and the result is breathtaking at times.

iPhone 5S Or 6? Steve Jobs’ Former Advisor Slams Apple’s Naming Scheme

Ben Reid·April 8, 2013
Love or hate Apple, it cannot be denied that, when it comes to branding and marketing, the Cupertino is the envy of its peers. With a seemingly unique ability to lure consumers into paying often a great deal more than they would for a similar product in another store, it has been the cost, and not the advertising techniques, which have drawn the most scrutiny. However, a critic of Apple's rather unpredictable device naming system has arrived in an unlikely package, with Ken Segall, former advertising client to Apple and advisor to Steve Jobs, delivered a few home truths to his former employer.
