Apple Watch Series 12 Rumored To Feature A Health Sensor Built Into The Band

A new rumor suggests Apple could be planning an unusual addition for the Apple Watch Series 12 by moving a health sensor from the watch itself into the band.

According to leaker Kosutami, Apple is testing a silicone Apple Watch band with an injection-molded sensor built directly into it. The rumor does not reveal what the sensor is designed to measure, though Apple has explored several band-based health technologies through patents over the years.

Previous Apple patents have described watch bands capable of monitoring blood pressure, hydration, sweat composition, and even automatically adjusting their fit to improve the accuracy of health readings. However, none of these ideas have made it into a commercial product.

That makes this latest claim difficult to verify. Kosutami has a mixed track record when it comes to Apple leaks, and no other reliable sources have backed up the report. As a result, the rumor should be treated with caution.

The Apple Watch Series 12 is widely expected to be a relatively modest update, with a faster chip likely being its biggest confirmed improvement. Apple is expected to unveil the smartwatch alongside the iPhone 18 lineup later this fall.

Until more credible reports emerge, the idea of a sensor-equipped Apple Watch band remains an interesting possibility rather than a feature users should expect to see at launch.
