Apple Updates AirPods Pro And AirPods Max With Support For New Find My Features

Apple has rolled out new software updates for both AirPods and AirPods Pro that enables them to make better use of the Find My network.

The new changes were first announced during WWDC in June and are now becoming available.

The new improvements mean that AirPods Pro and AirPods Max will now display their precise location information in the Find My app with Lost Mode and Nearby Finding support also added. People can now decide to be alerted when they leave their AirPods Pro and AirPods Max behind, too.

For any of this to work you’ll need to have the latest software updates installed on your AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, a process that can’t be forced. Instead, plugging your earbuds and headphones in and leaving them connected to an iPhone should be enough to cause the update to kick in. Eventually!

The new features could come in handy in all kinds of situations, particularly when AirPods and AirPods Pro are lost. If configured just so, the devices can be set to display a telephone number or other contact details when paired with a new device. You are then relying on that person returning them, but it’s more than we had before.

If anything, these changes should make it easier to find AirPods Pro when they slip down the back of the sofa, at least!
