Apple Re-Published Multiple App Updates, Likely In An Attempt To Fix Bug That Stopped Them From Launching

Apple today re-published multiple app updates to the App Store with some people having as many as 30 different apps requiring update this morning.

While it isn’t clear exactly why all of these apps needed to be redownloaded, it’s possible that this was part of a fix for a bug that prevented a number of people from launching specific apps.

Starting this past Friday people took to social media to report that they were unable to launch all kinds of apps ranging from Twitter and Facebook to WhatsApp and Instagram. The error message people received suggested that there was an issue because “This app is no longer shared with you”.

As a workaround people noted that deleting and reinstalling the app got things moving again, with others saying that simply offloading the app and then redownloading it was enough to make the app launch as expected.

Apple hasn’t said why this happened or even comfirmed that this round of updates is related to the bug. But the timing is too coincidental for these updates to be unrelated – especially considering the sheer number of them that were available for users to download this morning.

If you’re faced with a ton of updates that need to be downloaded today, install them ASAP. And maybe find a nice fast internet connection to do it on as well!
