Apple Podcasts App Is Set To Get New Features In iOS 14

Apple is expected to announce iOS 14 during its WWDC opening event on Monday, June 22. We’ve seen plenty of leaks surrounding what we should expect to be announced during that event and now we’ve seen another – this time pointing the finger squarely at the Podcasts app.

According to a new report, the app will get a new Apple Music-like feature and more.

The main new change will be the addition of a “For You” tab, similar to the one users will already be familiar with in the Music app. The Podcasts app will surface new episodes and podcasts that it believes a user might be interested in listening to based on their previous listening history, according to 9to5Mac.

If you’re already an Apple Music subscriber, you’re probably familiar with the “For You” tab, which suggests new songs, artists, and playlists based on what you’ve been listening to. With iOS 14, a similar feature will be available within Apple’s Podcasts app, according to people familiar with the matter.

Another change will see podcast creators given the chance to offer exclusive content in their own feed. While the new content would still arrive in the feed alongside standard podcast episodes, 9to5Mac notes that the new content will be distinguishable from them.

When Apple does announce iOS 14 we also expect to see the first developer beta made available, too. We’ll be putting that through its paces ourselves so keep your eyes peeled for more information as the betas progress.
