AirPods Pro 2 To Arrive In Fall Along With AirPods Max In New Colors And Reduced Price

Apple could launch refreshed AirPods Pro and AirPods Max later this year according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The latter could also get new color options for the first time, according to the journalist’s weekly Power On newsletter.

Apple has been rumored to already be working on AirPods Pro 2 for some time now, with the belief being that they could ship with support for lossless audio for the first time.

Now, Gurman believes that we could see a refresh take place as soon as this fall, with AirPods Max following suit. Further, it’s also thought that a price drop could be in the cards along with updated colors for Apple’s high-end headphones.

Look out for new AirPods Pro in the fall. The current model has been on the market since fall of 2019, so the batteries are already probably in trouble for some early adopters. Also look out for an AirPods Max refresh with new colors (and, we hope, a price drop—$550 is absurd for those headphones).

It isn’t immediately clear how much of Gurman’s report was based on information he had heard from sources, however, or if much of this is wishful thinking — especially in the case of the pride drop!

Apple’s AirPods Pro in particular are due a refresh having first been released in 2019. As Gurman points out, those who bought them at launch could well be suffering from severely degraded batteries at this point and a refresh would give them a good reason to upgrade.
