Apple’s hot new $99 MagSafe Battery Pack is now available for sale around the world, with Apple Stores across Europe in particular now offering the accessory for in-store pickup.
Notably, anyone ordering online looks set to have to wait until August before their battery pack lands on their doorstep.
The MagSafe Battery Pack comes in white, and white only, and is finished in a shiny plastic rather than the silicone many of us had expected. It attaches to the back of iPhone 12-series devices using the magic of magnets and charges them via wireless charging technology.
Attaching the MagSafe Battery Pack is a snap. Its compact, intuitive design makes on-the-go charging easy. And its perfectly aligned magnets keep it attached to your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro — providing safe and reliable wireless charging.
While the $99 asking price might seem steep compared to the competition, it’s worth noting that the MagSafe Battery Pack can also double as a MagSafe Wireless Charger when it’s plugged in to a 20W USB-C power adapter, too.
It’s expected that the new charger will also work with the iPhone 13 when it’s announced in the coming months, too. The new iPhone 13 is expected to ship with a smaller notch, a new camera system, and a 120Hz ProMotion display for increased fluidity during scrolling and more.
