Video Of Claimed Apple Pencil 3 Has Leaked Online

With Apple set to hold a new media event next week the rumors are swirling as to what the company will announce. The smart money is already on a new iPad Pro or two, while the possibility of AirTags finally being announced shouldn’t be overlooked.

But a new Apple Pencil is also now in the cards, with a video of the supposedly updated stylus now having appeared on Twitter.

The video, posted by an anonymous leaker, seems to show a new Apple Pencil 3 that appears to be very similar to the second generation version that is currently available for purchase. The key difference seems to be a change from a matte finish to the glossy one of the first generation Apple Pencil. Beyond that, nothing else seems to have changed.

Importantly, the new Apple Pencil appears to keep the flat edge needed for wireless charging when attached to the side of an iPad.

We would expect there to be some new internals here at least, however, potentially to allow the new Apple Pencil to work alongside the iPad Pro’s rumored mini-LED screen. Whether that will also allow for new features or sensitivity, we’ll have to wait and see.

Apple will hold its Spring Loaded event on Tuesday, April 20.
