Tesla Announces Model 3 Electric Trunk Upgrade For Older Cars

Tesla has announced a new upgrade program that will allow people to have a new electric trunk installed on their Model 3.

The move is only taking place in China right now, although it is likely that it will expand to the United States and other markets in time.

Anyone who bought a Tesla Model 3 before 2021 wasn’t given a pre-installed electric trunk which meant that they had to open and close it themselves. Tesla CEO Elon Musk did mention that there were plans to have the automatic components added to existing cars for those with disabilities, but nothing official was announced. Now, it seems that progress has been made.

The upgrade will cost around $850 and that includes installation by Tesla’s mechanics. Tesla also shared details on Weibo while asking people to make suggestions for other upgrade services that the company could offer in the future.

Tesla electric tailgate upgrade service official service, genuine parts, professional technician installation. The long-awaited electric tailgate upgrade for old car owners is here. Your voice, we are all listening carefully. What after-sales upgrade services you hope Tesla will make available? Welcome to leave your suggestion.

Hopefully, it won’t too long before Tesla brings a similar upgrade program to countries outside of China – there is a lot of Model 3 cars driving around that could benefit from it.
