Good news for those toting Windows Phone devices this Christmas with the news that the hugely popular Temple Run 2 has finally made its way to Microsoft’s smartphone platform.

The Temple Run franchise has undoubtedly been one of the many success stories of the iOS and Google Play Stores. If you are an owner of an iOS or Android device, and are into mobile gaming then the first and second iterations of Temple Run will more than likely have a permanent home in your ‘Games’ folder. The idea of running through expansive jungle environments while trying to evade being captured by an evil monkey definitely appeals to our primal early-man instincts. But now, things have gotten a little more extreme with an app update that offers gamers the chance to play as the fastest man on the planet – Usain Bolt.

Temple Run, like the vast majority of mobile success stories of the past five or six years, is an incredibly simple, yet challenging and addictive title which sees an Indiana Jones-type run through a temple, evading various obstacles in order to achieve the highest score possible. Not only has it ranked highly in terms of playability and popularity, but is is also free of charge, and with the sequel – Temple Run 2 – getting 2013 off to a great start on the mobile gaming front, it was always going to be an instant hit. However, the second installment has exceeded all expectation, having been downloaded an incredible 50 million times in two weeks, and on the way to becoming the fastest-selling mobile game in history.

The official second version of the Temple Run franchise from Imangi Studios is now available as a free-of-charge download from the Play Store, and as you might expect it offers all of the thrills and spills of its iOS flavored brother perfectly tailored for the Android OS.
