iOS 6 has only just made it way onto iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices worldwide, and despite Apple bragging of some 200 new changes, it's fair to day many are struggling to find many of real significance moving forward. Although the Maps app may have come as a disappointment, there's quite a bit of anticipation encircling Passbook - Apple's very own answer to NFC - and although there aren't too many establishments supporting the Cupertino's flagship iOS 6 feature, more and more apps are being added to the App Store at an hourly rate.
Just in time for the launch of Apple's latest firmware - iOS 6 - and the iPhone 5, Facebook has taken the opportunity to update their iOS app with full support for iOS 6 and the taller display of the iPhone 5.
Apple took the liberty of finally flicking the switch and made iOS 6 available to million of iOS device users out there. With the iPhone 5 all set to hit shelves within a day’s time, it makes sense to download apps which take full advantage of that gorgeous 4-inch Retina display and the prowess of iOS 6.
Anyone who has an iPhone or iPod touch and has interest in snapping photographs or getting involved in social circles will more than likely be familiar with Instagram. When the app was first released for the iPhone, it took the world by storm as it was one of the first of its kind which allowed filters to be applied to photographs which would in turn be uploaded and shared with the rapidly expanding Instagram network. Things have changed a bit since then thanks to Facebook's takeover and numerous app revisions, but it is still one of the most popular downloads on the iOS App Store.
If you find yourself regularly using an iOS powered device like the iPhone or iPod touch then the chances are that the official App Store is your best friend. One of the great benefits of mobile smartphones and tablets is the ability to carry around information with us at all times, but on occasion that information can become overwhelming and seem like there is just too much of it for us to manage. Being able to take snippets, screenshots or small parts of documents isn't a new thing and bookmarking services have existed for as long as we can all remember, but Clipboard for Clipboard.com attempts a new way of handling this action.
A few days ago, I reviewed Wonderful Days for iOS – an app that lets you maintain a diary / journal on the go. In that post, I mentioned Momento for people who wanted their journal entries to have more context in the form of tweets and Facebook updates they’ve posted online; I thought it would be a nice thing to review Momento on its own as it is a whole lot more than a diary with tweets / status updates. Check it out after the jump.
Any parent, teacher or professor will know that if you attempt to introduce most children to the world of mathematics then it is likely going to fall on deaf ears. Math is one of those subjects that you either love it or hate it, understand and grasp, or will struggle with and do just enough to get through your academic years. With that said, those people will know and understand that math is an important thing to known and grasp and will therefore use any tool at their disposal to teach it effectively.
The word "Starmatic" may stir up some nostalgic emotions for hardcore photography fans out there, and although it now exists as a piece of mobile software designed for the iPhone, it initially began life as the Kodak Brownie Starmatic. The physical device was part of the Brownie Star series of devices from Kodak and found itself in production from 1959 to 1963. As well as having a rather interesting name, the Kodak creation was also the world's first automatic camera and came with Automatic Exposure Control as well as fixed-focus abilities as standard.
No matter how advanced technology becomes in the future, it's unlikely they'll be able to change the weather, but with the right application on tow, one might be able to prepare themselves adequately for what might be ahead.
Back in July, we discussed an app called Savi People that provided a very powerful unified communication experience by integrating your iOS device’s contacts with friends on Facebook, followers on Instagram and Twitter, and connections on LinkedIn. It has been updated to version 1.3 now which includes an important group-messaging feature, and the developers have also released a free, limited version alongside as part of the update. Check it all out after the jump.
