The 2012 Mobile Choice Awards have just taken place in London and the results are in - with Samsung's Galaxy S III coming out on top as Best Smartphone of 2012. Despite its main competitor - the iPhone 5 - enjoying a great deal of early success and record sales figures, it is the Korean company's quad-core effort which came out on top this time around.
Apple made a song and dance of the new iPhone 5's camera improvements, and although the resolution remained at 8-megapixels (translating to "unchanged" among the overwhelming majority), Apple not only improved its build quality by incorporating a Sapphire lens, but also claim it performs much better in low lighting conditions.
The iPhone 5 is here, and while some have pre-ordered it in a dizzy state of excitement and anticipation, some - few - despise it, and while others are thinking about purchasing it, there're likely hundreds of millions out there that simply cannot afford it.

Apple has put us all out of our smartphone related misery and finally announced the details of the sixth-generation iPhone, and is dubbed the iPhone 5. After months of intense speculation surrounding the multiple leaked parts and component images that have been flying around the net, Tim Cook and his team have finally lifted the lid on the smartphone that they hope will lead them into the new year in the top spot. Many of the new iPhone's included features are in line with what we expected, although as always Apple have managed to slip in a few little additions.
British newspaper TheTelegraph believes Apple is about to cease the sale of the iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 5 is introduced to the fray, instead retailing an 8GB version of the iPhone 4S, which is currently sold in 16, 32 and 64GB configurations.

Ever since the critical success of the Nexus 7, and the reasonably good commercial success of the Kindle Fire (both $199 Android powered tablets), Apple has been strongly rumored to be preparing their contestant for the small, economical tablet. Just about every Redmond Pie reader has now heard of the iPad Mini. It’s rumored to be a 7.85” tall tablet that has the specs of an iPad 2, and that it will be announced and launched in October for the price of $249.
